Hey all - I've got a '14 C63 coupe with the Distronic package, and I've been blacking out some of the trim. I'm considering the grille, but it has the newer solid star on it behind which the RADAR sits. Does anyone know if I vinyl wrap the star if it will mess with the Distronic sensors? Thx

I know too thick of a coat of paint will cause issues on parktronic so I really doubt you can wrap that star. You can try it with a small piece to test it though.

I wonder. I think parktronic uses infrared if I recall correctly, and I believe the distronic sensor is actually RADAR (how friggin' high-tech are these cars ). I really like the blacked out grille look and frankly I'm not a fan of the solid star, myself. I still can't figure out what might look good (wrap or plastic dip the horizontals and border in black, leave star, or maybe do the star in a 30% blacked out vinyl...). I guess I could give it a shot - what's the worst that could happen?

Dipping Distronic Star is ok.
Did it before, no dramas
