7G vs MCT
Can anyone tell me what the hp rating is for these 2 boxes.
Is the MCT capable of handling more power than the 7G?
Friend is considering changing his 08 C63 for 507 and installing huge shot of NOS. Trying to determine which box is stronger without having to upgrade.
Is the MCT in the C63 identical to the one in the V8 TT E63?
Anyone running NOS on a MCT C63?
Any help and input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

jcart, ecampbell or Weistec are the best people to answer this.
The MCT can definitely handle more power than the 7G transmission.
From what I can remember, without going down the built transmission route, the 7G transmission can handle about 700hp, and the MCT can handle around 750hp.
Don't quote me on these numbers though, just going off what I remember reading.

Really matters if you are spraying off the line or at a roll...
Off the line you may want beefed up clutch packs and a better valve body transmission upgrade. Still the stock transmission shouldnt have a problem handling up to a 150 shot off the line.
On a roll, you will be fine up to 200hp shot.

most of the regular non mct 7g transmissions are rated at 700nm which is 516tq
the mct version of the 7g transmission are rated for 1000nm which is 737tq
Keep in mind these are flywheel ratings. I have no personal experience with nitrous, but if you dont have the 1000nm transmission i wouldnt run more than 75shot if you want it to hold together reliably. If it's totally stock than 150shot. pm your vin and i can look up what you have. Keep in mind the Multiple clutch packs in the MCT unit can wear out also if you start getting crazy.

its not the mct part necessarily, its that it's fitted with the 1000nm version of the 7g rather than 700. The c63 only came with 420-440hp when it came out so no need for a beefy trans, towards the end with the 507 and pp etc... it was time for the big one that most of the heavier more powerful 63's already came with.
