M3s have always had crap brakes, 4 of my M3s had to have BBKs fitted.

My 3 M3's brakes were great for sporting street use
I usually got the euro rotors (floating and x drlled), SS lines, ATE 200 Gold
I stuck with oem pads: easy on rotors and good cold bite though dusty

Never got fade even on long downhill runs
The do have a bad rep for track use though, deserved or not

I think a lot of it is the use of single piston sliding vs multi-piston fixed
Without a starting a raging debate floating have their advantages but look cheap or low tech
Not 'cool'

Having said that the AMG ones look much better but the M felt as good, in large part to better wt distribution and the suspensions anti-dive geometry

So true, meanwhile I tracked a stock 335i at least 5x @LimeRock with no brake fade whatsoever

How can that be?
Cars weigh about the same
M3 is a little faster

M3 e9x
F 360x30
R 350x24
Both are floating and cross drilled

335i
F 348x30
R 336x22
Niether are floating or cross drilled

Those are substantial differences

Is that car a paper weight? Sapling didn't even budge and the car gave it a hug.

Is it normal to that the tree is only scratched but the car is totalled? Is this safety issue?

Should be the same crappy experience, I agree. Still have the following which are more than likely different:
1) Pad / Rotor Compounds
2) Calipers / Swept Area
3) Brake MC / Proportioning Valve
4) ...

Quite the opposite. Modern cars are designed to crumple, squish, and come apart to absorb the force of the impact as opposed to being big metal battering rams.

I'm sure the M3 system is better or at least euqal to the 335i's

it has larger rotors, basically the same material
larger pads and more aggressive on the M3
crossed drilled, better heat dissipation
floating, better heat dissipation
much larger swept area, the fronts alone 15% or so
plus since the caliper is at greater radius (larger disc diameter) more brake torque (T = F x radius)

Posted @3:35pm, coincidence or not?

Yes, on paper BMW will always make sure the M3 wins.

Even with the e46 m3 saw lots of complaints around the brake setup at the track, per what H20 MRV said...

It varies.
There is a new M3 that has crashed on the 'Ring also.

Trees are very resistant to impacts from cars. A tree half that thickness would result in the same accident and could easily split a car in half (if it struck sideways) without budging.

Plus modern cars are designed to crumple. It doesn't look like it was that hard of a hit, but regardless you'll see that the A-pillars and windshield are still intact. Passengers probably opened the doors and stepped out.

Not if it was an 80 something Jag.....hell my c63 is a tank. No way would it crumple like that plasto racer.

I think the new M's are ***. They keep going less is more, trying to convince people that plastic is weight savings. Garbage! and a crappy exhaust note too.

The car is meant to crumple to absorb energy
That was a severe impact against an immovable object
And he walked away
$$$ for the car or the hospital/undertaker??? Lol

Old volvos had a system of cables & pullies
Engine to seat belt tensioner in opposition
As the engine was driven back it pulled on the belts
The weight backwards of the engine was used to negate the forward motion of the occupants
Slick
Then airbags came along
