That pictured Mann filter is definitely wrong...too many o-rings. That looks more like the filter for a W220 S-class; I know because my parents' has a S430 that I maintain.

The C63 uses one o-ring but packaging comes with two if I remember correctly.

My ebay filter came today, same packaging, and I got to compare the filters before changing oil today. Alls good. I did notice that the Hengst supplied by MB dealers says AMG on it, the Hengst packaged ones do not (not cool ).

I got a little over 7 liters out. Filled with Royal Purple 5w40. Runs noticeably smoother and temps stay lower. After the refill I did a short drive down the street (to Whole Foods). Did the same drive yesterday (cold start), ran in for something quick and on the way back oil temp hit 223. Today, the car was already pre-warmed (oil flows easier, Mityvac) and I didn't stop at Whole Foods (no cool down), and oil temp didn't break 194 (and I got on it a little more because she was feeling so buttery smooth).

I'm going to try this again next time with Redline.

Just so I have this straight - the Hengst A156 is fleece and the E149H is cellulose?

edit: Just pulled into the garage and looked at my last of six Hengst 149's. It's fleece, just never noticed the very slight fuzziness before. The 149 must be an earlier part number (bought mine in 2010).

that was posted as an example of the color of a 'fleece' filter
not the specific filter for a M156
sorry for the confusion

I think this is why I got confused. These are what mine look like.

Same color as an aur filter

Received the four new filters today ($10.75 per from Pelican). The color is still the same, both are identical and are fleece. Never seen a white o-ring before like this new one though, it's thicker and less firm than the traditional black one.

Ahhh. I was trying hard to believe that the tan version was some form of compressed fleece, even put it under a magnifying glass lol. When I originally took delivery I wandered over to the parts dept to buy a filter ($27) so as to have a reference point. It was identical to the ones I have now so paper was spec'd even back in '09.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a good filter with paper media

That Amazon filter had three reviews. Here's one:

Amazons website says that this filter fits a 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG. It does not! I ordered in June 2013 so probably too late for a refund though I will try. Best to order (or buy) from a source that knows what they are doing.

Thread from the dead!
So I'm looking for the right oil filter and I came across this post.
I went to pelican parts looking for hengst filters and found these:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...rTech%23item10
The hengst looks to be paper from what I can tell (yellowed color as opposed to white like this thread states for fleece) but this thread states that hengst are all fleece filters.
I also noticed that the hengst and MB part numbers are identical except for the last 3 - MBZ VS M45 -
I'm just a newb that is confused by the conflicting information. Can someone clarify what I'm looking at?
Thanks.
