Congrats man!

I used to own a 2005 E-gear - yellow. Sold it 'cause a lady saw me one day leaving the grocery store; she had to have it...her and her husband made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

In terms of speed vs. the C63, yes, the G-car in 2005 and even 2006 were not that fast for its class. In stock form, it was a mid 12's average maybe low if you got lucky; a little better in 2006 with the HP bump from 493 to 510 or so. Not saying that mid 12's average is slow, but one would thik it was a faster car by the way it looked and sounded. The E-gear trans was a mess, cluncky when cold and overall slow to engage; the new systems ('09 and up) are light years better.

Overall, I liked the car, it was nice, but things such as the dash peeling back from the winshield due to sun light and seat bolsters cracking and leaky transaxle case and other little nic nac crap made me think twice...not to mention the AC clutch took a crap on me. The point is, it looks great, sounds great and it draws lots of attention (my wife hated that - and so did I), but for the money, I was expecting more.

If you owned a pre 2009 and purchased a '09 and up unit, you would think a different company built the car...VW cleaned up a lot of Lambo's mess...and thank goodness for that.

Nevertheless my friend, congrats again! Take good care of the car, make sure all maint has been done, find a good indy shop mainly for items such as the clutch, axles and valve adjustments - they can be pricey to fix, but fairly easy to do/replace. All other minor stuff like oil, spark and brake pads changes you can do yourself and save a ton.
