thanks, I am glad it was a relatively easy fix. word to the wise, though, that piece isn't "replaceable" in that MB doesn't sell that part separately; we managed to find one on another manifold. upside is my tech wiped down all the oil in the intake, which he said there was quite a bit. plus we replaced the gaskets while we were at it (those were on their way out as well). so all-in-all, a stupid mistake on my part, but got some ancillary other things taken care of with the same stone.

OK, I want to keep track of your miles and whether you find oil in the can. If you haven't found any oil in it come October, I may sell my can before installing it.

glennhl, I consider the lack of oil to an engine that has little blow by, although the car is not driven hard, and uses no oil or very little amount from the 5K oil change regiment. I drain into a pan, fill with fresh and the pour the old back into the jugs to verify usage, always have for all my vehicles. 07- 120K

Does anyone know the part # or the name of that fitting/line that the op broke i broke mine as well and cant for the life of me find it on any of the oem part websites.
