Difference Between SportPlus And Manual.
I am a bit confused and uncertain as to the benefits of using the car in SportPlus mode as compared to Manual mode.
Now I understand that with SportPlus, you get more faster and aggresive shifting, holds on to gears, blipping on downshift etc. That is all great and stuff. But what about Manual mode? Is if pretty much SportPlus mode but with full control of manual shifting from the driver?
What about putting the car in SportPlus and than using the paddlesto change gears? Is that affectively manual mode with full control of shifts?
Sorry for the cumbersone question but I am really not sure as to the concrete benefits and effects of the two modes and thought I would try and get some clarification. I really wonder if MB/AMG thought this through.

If you are in sport plus and pull the up paddle you will see the numbers climb on the dash but the car may not necessarily shift if you are really on the throttle. In otherwords, it will hold the lowest gear you have selected, but it will only take your up shifts as recommendations and will ignore them if you are demanding more acceleration by pressing the throttle more and more. Manual mode will up shift when you pull the paddle regardless of how much throttle input you are putting in. In M, at WOT, if you up shift, it will shift, in S+, that won't happen.

Where is manual mode you have full control of shifts, but is everything like shift speed, throttle sensitivity etc what it would be in sport+?

In M, you choose the gear. The computer prevents bad lugging (it won't let you select 7 at 20 MPH) but does little else except select 1 when you stop.
S+ is a regular automatic mode. The computer selects the gear.
In any automatic mode (C, S or S+) you can force the transmission to select the highest gear it will shift into (unless that gear would redline, in which case it overrides your limit and upshifts one gear). S+ will do this, but it's not a function of S+. C does it also.
The fast-shifting program is only selected in M and S+. Shifts are softer in C and S. S+ is much more like S than M. It's S with faster shifts and slightly more aggressive shift points.
