And another thing that doesn't make sense is the stig. I mean you know Tanner is saying to himself, I'm a better driver than our go to test driver.

It's an awkward dichotomy.

The competitions are predictable and Tanner's over competitive nature to win everything is lame. We get it, the man boy knows how to drive....
You can catch fifth gear if you get velocity channel; they have repeats. The hosts are way better and far less of the stuff they do is completely and totally staged, like it is in both Top Gear shows unfortunately. I'm just tired of watching these "competitions" that couldn't be further from that. But again, I'll watch it for the rides even though I'd like to elbow Richard Hammond and all of the US dudes in the forehead

You know what, strangely I have a bit more respect for Tanner though at least cause he can actually drive. Crappy host, but at least he's a legit driver, right? Although I've never watched him race so perhaps he was a douche doing that as well...

I can appreciate your point of view in seeing it that way too.

OP
Did you pull the cover yet?
See if it's discolored underneath

I didn't. I tried a tooth brush with a mild cleaning detergent watered down to see if it removed the oil, but it did nothing. I believe it is pemernantly discolored without hope of cleaning it. Even when I press a clean wet paper towel to it, it transfers nothing.

I think I will just replace it because it sticks out like a sore thumb when I pop the hood. Can't find the part though. Looked online at ecs and mbparts. Can't find the maf cover.

I popped it off. No electrical issues

I'll soak it in warm water and dish soap, then scrub it with a toothbrush. I'll let you know if I can find one to replace it with Max. It comes in the entire engine cover kit, but obviously I'd rather spend 10 bucks for it then $190 for the kit.

My 2011 had the same thing so I got the ROW boxes and it re-appeared in a different spot. Now I have a 2013 and the same thing is happening on the side with the dipstick, my guess is that it is oil + heat.

Try and see if someone who's upgraded to a supercharger setup (e.g. Weistec) has one. I'm pretty sure once those are bolted on the plastic cover bits are no longer necessary, and I'm not even sure if the MAF sensors stay in the same place. They might even have one lying around.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Doesn't bother me too much and I think that the soak and scrub helped clean it up a bit. Still, it's kind of a mystery to me how it got like that. I'll see if it goes back to the bronzed color over a short period of time. It's definitely oil.

Had a chance to watch Fifth Gear on YouTube. Gotta say, I like it a lot. Wish it came on more regularly on tv but I don't think I have access to it on my plan. Definitely gives top gear a run for its money. Less cheeky and more technical. Something how the Brits can churn out two auto global shows. I get to watch motorweek and I have to try and feel excited about hybrids and carbon footprints. The global green agenda is wayyyy to strong here in the states. Yucky!

Motorweek kills me too. I DVR it and then end up deleting it after watching about 10 minutes. I almost bail out after the main dude does his intro to the show, but yeah it's all hybrids and affordable cars with the rare decent ride. Take a look around and see if you can't find more episodes of Fifth gear - it's been on forever too, and I guess there are either Fifth gear and Top gear folks in the UK. I guess I'm in the former group myself although I'll still check out TG for some of the ridiculously awesome rides they get access to.
