Stock Baseline Runs - Atco Raceway 07/25/2014
Interesting night to say the least. I had been in Boston for a couple of weeks, and decided to drive down to Atco last night to get a few baseline runs in with an old racing buddy. Due to traffic, I arrived at 9pm and was only able to get 2 runs in. Got to the track on fumes (no distance left and a new picture that didn't look good), ran to tech, threw in 5gal of VP unleaded race gas (MS109), and staged. Car had been running hot on the way down because of all the traffic along the way (I saw 250deg briefly in NYC), and had no chance to cool down.
My C63 Coupe is a late-2012 with the performance package. I have ROW airboxes on it with K&N's, and that's it. Literally bone stock. 18" wheels with terrible Conti (Sportcontact?) tires, about 25% tread on the rear. Normal tire pressures @ 39psi around because I didn't have time to adjust. Full weight car, 4150 with me and my stuff in it.
(timeslips attached below) - I'm car #505
First run was against another C63. It was an '09 sedan, black, and had M/T drag radials on the back and a Renntech tune. My first time doing a real burnout in the thing, and I was pleasantly surprised with how much smoke I created and how long it took to clear. Powerbraked a bit, kept it in S+, and held on. I ran a 12.36@116.03mph, with a pretty poor 2.027 60'. The interesting part here is that I both out-trapped AND out-ET'd the other C63 with tune drag radials etc (see timeslip below #7158). I had almost 3mph on him, which means that there's something seriously wrong with the kids car, or my car is just unusually strong for a stocker.
Second run I had a better launch, better 60', better ET, and surprisingly a better mph also. I absolutely believe that with some more launch practice, taking some weight out (toolboxes, etc), not driving 400mi to the track and allowing time to cool, lower rear tire pressure, and a bit cooler temps, that this will do 11's. As is. Absolutely.
For comparison, my last car was a 996TT, and in stock form ran a best et 12.76 @ 111.77 with highest trap of 113.38 (average 12.91 @ 111.75).
LOVE THIS CAR.
Anyone in the area who wants to meet at Atco or E-Town or Island or wherever, let me know. I'm game anytime.
Eurocharged tune was waiting for me when I got home to NYC early this morning, and headers are on the way. Let the madness begin...

Thanks man. Not that hard with these - just punch it and go. The launch is going to be the toughest for me to master as all I've driven in the past was AWD and FWD turbos.
Does powerbraking for burnouts stress the tranny much in these cars?
And forget about Race Start. It's so finicky I can't get it to work.
Heated up to 240deg by the end of the 1/4 which is surprising. I think a MHP 180deg thermostat and some Redline WaterWetter is in this cars future. I shudder to think about how hot it's going to get on a trackday.

Absolutely man.
Corrected the time using the DA, which was 881 and got 12.118 @ 117.392 MPH
My car seems fast for a stock car (ROW boxes). Does anyone know what the fast times are for near-stock?

Cool thanks! 11.91@118.4mph. That's damn fast. I can't wait until the weather cools down though...

is there a launch control in later models
I have an 09, and finding it difficult to get a nice launch
on a stick I can use the clutch to control
on this auto I have no idea how to get a nice launch
how did you do it?
