Unhappy Sucky windscreen wipers

Ok, got the first rain on my baby, and I must say I'm not impressed by the quality of the windscreen wipers.

First off, the motion is very jerky, almost like the wipers gets stuck on the glass, but it was really pouring so it should have had plenty of lubrication. Only if I pushed them at their maximum they kind of felt a bit smooth.

Secondly, the upward motion clears the screen pretty good, but the downward motion leaves a big mess afterward.

Seriously for a new Merc of this caliber is this what to expect? or did I get faulty wipers (motor and blades)??

Same happened to me about 3 years ago with my new C63 Coupe and the previous c280.
I took mine back to the dealer they put a new set of blades on. Every 6 to 12 months I
give the screen a real good clean ( clay it or white vinegar and water). It may have some wax or contaminates on it that make the blades skip, hop & Jump
Cheers
Marty

I had the same issue when I got my car.
Merc didn't want to change the blades but just lubricated them. It sadly hasn't rained since for me to test them, but will see

My wipers are terrible too. I rarely drive it in the rain, but they leave a lot to be desired. On the return/downstroke they pull the water back across the wiped area

My car is less than a year old and I've clayed the windshield and put a sealant on it.

As my car is my daily driver (and I live in Germany) it sees rain all the time. My passenger wiper works great. My driver's side leaves a large spot on the down-swipe... right in my line of site.

Mine are terrible!

I was thinking about starting a thread on this yesterday. And mine are new. They are so bad they have already put an arch shaped scratch in my windshield.

My C350's were great. This glass is different. It is more upright and reinforced and the stroke of the wipers is bad. Herky jerky stiff stiff stiff ratchety

Try cleaning the blade rubber regularly with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. You might be surprised at how much crap comes off.

never thought our wipers sucked. There is actually a special tool use to set the angle of attack on the windshield. This helps with noise, skipping and poor contact. The newer blades come with little stickers that turn yellow when enough uv rays hit the sticker that could make the rubber stop working well. cleaning them is definitely helpful to extend life. As is a clean window and not using them with very poor lubrication.

I thought the OEM blades were actually Bosch Ikons, which are actually very good blades. I have never had a problem with mine. If your car is brand new (which the OP seems to have), the blades probably still have crap on them from the manufacturing process. Like someone else said, give them a good cleaning.

I have never had an issue with mine in everything from light rain to monsoon weather.
