Max rear tire width on stock wheels

As per tittle:
Might be a novice question but what is tha max width tire you can fit on stock wheels .sliding is fun but i relly wish for more traction.i had an M3 previously wich had less power and torque+ wider rears and traction wasnt an issue unless pushed very hard.in the c63 im having wheelspins constantly and in uk where it rains a lot i find that i cant use all the power i have at my foot.i got 2013 pp coupe.im struggeling for grip even with brand new yoko rears.
Any advice?
Thanx

Michelin super sports,

That's the way forward, nothing else will work here in the uk
I have had a a few M3s as well, an E46 and two E92s, all modded and they just don't have the torque of the C63s, As you know you have to rev them to make them go, Whereas the Merc Just goes!!

Anyway. I digress.. Front: 245/35/19 - Rear: 275/30/19 on std rims no problems but no wider on the rear,
Have you got a LSD? that will help no end.

Thanx for that.was the m3 rears 265 or 270 cant remember.just want to get it right for the first go.
I thought m3 400nm vs c63 600nm.
So if the m3 was 265 than im deffo going with 275 in the rear

Hi mate, had the same problem. Came from a E92 M3. I instantly put Michelin PSS's on.

I went for 265/30/19 for the rears. Made a huge difference. Might go for 275 next time though.

That's what I have on mine, no problems, SLIGHT touch on say a BIG speed hump or going at a weird angle in the drive or something but no problems,
And buy from here as very good prices (nothing to do with me btw) I have had 3 sets off them now! Tyreleader on line.

So tire size sorted.
What brand do you guys recommend?
As i said i live in the uk so good wet grip is a must but i hope that the increased width will sort that a bit.
Would de merc dealer make a fuss if i ask them to put on bigger tires....just wondering.
Sometimes bmw wouldnt do anything if it wasnt in there books

So you were able to mount them on the OEM rims without any spacers or anything and you have no rubbing issues? Interesting. I don't know about 275, but I may do 265 if they fit without having to anything.

My boss is running 285's on the rear. Fits like a glove. I plan on doing the same when my rears are ready for it.

But what if you're lowered on coilovers? The 275 in the rears wont rub?

That is even better... you can adjust your height as you like. But I can guarantee you won't rubb at H&R springs height on your coilovers with 275/35/18.
Unless you have spacers you'll be fine.

The good news is that if you don't get the tire size right on this go around, you don't have to wait long before a second try at different tire sizes.

I just got the H&R coilovers, I just want to close the fender gap, not really going for the slammed look, the H&R springs basically close the gap or almost close the gap?

Yes the springs close the gap but you'll get more flexibility with coilovers since you can adjust height, compression/rebound. With springs long term will hurt your shocks absorber and ride quality.

Believe it or not (I was surprised) but the Continental ExtremeContact DW (a max performance summer tire) outperformed the Michelin PSS in wet conditions. It was a narrow victory but a victory nonetheless.

The Michelin PSS are still very good in wet conditions. And they are unquestionably some of the best dry performers around.

I've got the contis in DWS form, came with the car, basically brand new tires. Don't really need the DWS in SoCal they feel stuff, possibly due to the snow capability, I'm definitely switching to PSS when I'm due.

On OE wheels? FWIW minimum rim width for 285/30-18 is specified at 9.5".

The ride quality is excellent. They are also nice and quiet. I am currently running the ExtremeContact DW tires and I will definitely be purchasing another set. They inspire confidence in the rain, have excellent road manners, and provide excellent grip when pushing the car in dry conditions.

Yes those are all-season tires. You'll lose performance with any all-season tire, unfortunately.
