My Exhaust Tip fell off!!
Hi Everyone,
My Exhaust tip fell off while I was driving down the highway and one of my Exhaust tips came off! I need to replace it and need help! All the ones I see on ebay(I'm not paying $1,000 for exhaust tips from the Dealer) is one pipe coming out of the muffler into the dual tips out back. As you can see from the picture below. I have 2 pipes coming out of the muffler and dual pipes into ht eduat tips. Where can I find this? Or should I just buy the ebay tips and get the welded?
Let me know what you guys think. Thank you!

I just texted my service writer at my MB dealer. Worth a shot. Thank you!

Wow what the heck lol. Never seen that before. You winter drive that? Do they spray lots of salt down in the winter?
I would take to the dealer. If they can fix it for free or cheap do it. Other wise good excuse for a new cat back exhaust

Yeah, so I was driving down the highway minding my own business. And this kid in a Honda keeps tailgating me and was hitting VTEC...lol, so the shift light was lighting up his face. Wouldn't stop, so I punched it. I have MHP Stage 2, so beating a Honda was not a problem...lol
Next thing you know, I see sparks in my side mirror and I thought my exhaust dropped. All of the sudden, my tip lets go, and smashes the front of this kid's car! LMFAO!
There were 4 guys in the car, and I was alone, so I just took off and went home.
Only issue I've ever had with this car. Other than the rear tires wearing out every 4000 miles!

if you still have warranty, I'd go ask them to replace it if you can make an argument saying that it just fell off. sounds like a defective part if so.

From the picture, that looks like damage from some type of blunt force. Perhaps you hit something that initially broke the piping.
Either way, that's a new one. Never seen that before.

Your surviving tip looks skewed up and to the right. The broken area "ring" is partially black (old crack) and partially bright metal (new crack when tip fell off). Undoubtedly something hit the tips a while ago.

I might go look for the tip to re-attach, but that story leads me to beleive the honda probably took it as a souvaneer/evidence. Even if you found it likely it has a slanted "H" embossed on it.
Honda driver's version. I was racing this C63 and he kept flooring it and I just kept running up his @$$ cause he was slow. I even managed to get his tailpipe stuck in my grill before he got outta my way.

It was 2 AM in Bronx, NY. You do not get out of the car, or stop in that area or time. I would of walked home after getting car jacked. Any normal area or situation, yes I would of stopped.
You would of been scared too!

10+ years ago I was in a bad NYC neighborhood after dark. I cut off this car and when traffic stopped on the next block these 2 guys get out and walk up to my car. I'm crapping my pants a little, but I kept the tire iron in the door of my Jetta. I grab it as one of the guys attempts to open my locked door. The guy freaks out and runs back to his car as does his freind. My guess is that the tire iron and the way I grabbed it looked like a pistol. Punks got

Did you have an exhaust mod? As in was the tip cut and welded after? Perhaps the weld broke or something if all stock that is such a strange thing to happen!

I can hear the dealer saying you damaged the tip when installing that nice carbon graphite diffuser.
But I would think that with all the people putting on aftermarket cat backs, you should be able to find a used stock cat back for cheap...

Good luck with the repair.

ya, those dont just fall off. Thats definitely outside influence. The emissions warranty covers the engine control module, bulb for the check engine light and the catalyst nothing else. so even if this was still in the 8yr/80k it wouldnt apply.

Exhaust Tip
The Exhaust Tip helps to emit the gas from the engine of a car. The tip must be cleaned which will be helpful for emission. When a car starts it emits the gas which is poisonous for health. If the Exhaust Tip will be damaged then the emission is get affected. As a result engine, carburetor will get affected accordingly. So to avoid this type of problem regular service in authorized center is required.
