You're hoping for less rwhp? Sounds like the tune is getting most people minimum 420 at the wheels

EDIT SEE UPDATED RESULTS IN ORIGINAL POST

First Pull 100% stock: 409.46whp/364.47tq (additional baselines were ~1whp)
ROW boxes/AFE filters: 411whp/?(will update later)
Eurocharged V5 Tune: 418whp/382.02tq

Runs 4 and 6 were all mods. 4 was 4th gear 6 was 5th. I will download all of the runs tomorrow so they show up better...

As you can see gains were not that impressive, but mostly because it is already a P31. The car seems to be performing similar to other tuned 63's. I also tried the ECU reset(battery disconnect) and did additional runs after it cooled down.

For giggles here is a comparo between my LS1 RX7 and the C63

Ya, not much of a jump. The boxes can be had for $330 from skyland auto.

Could you post some photos including the engine bay of your RX7? 481 to the rear wheels, that thing has to be wicked!

For a Non p31 with eurocharged v5 tune i dyno'd at 426whp. I was happy with that. Considering the fact that filters and rowboxes together amount to almost the same cost of the tune, i was expecting better results, its a bummer.

Not to hijack but, if not whp then other than just a slightly better sound, what is the benefit of getting filters and rowboxes? Curious to know, if its even worth it

It's just an idea at this point, but I'm suspecting the ROW boxes may have more of a hp benefit on un-tuned cars. I'll check the tq numbers tomorrow. There may be more area under the curve....

LS1 swap motor in it. That's actually a common swap for RX7s, motor mounts are near identical.

Here's a couple. Still trying to decide if I want to get the C63 to that hp level. The long tubes are tempting me right now...

one of my favorite body stiles of all time, that car's design was ahead of it's time IMO.

Surprising result for the ROW boxes and AFE filters. Really does make sense tho I think.

My last time at the track there was a guy there with a C63 he said ROW boxes do not make a difference. we both ran 109MPH passes with same mods (tune, drop in filter) except I had ROW and he didnt.

I was hoping to see a better return on my money as I have the ROW's, Filters, and EC V5 tune as well. I guess being a non P car I would net better performance gains, but overall results are probably very similar.
The upside of things, I only paid $125 for my ROW's and got a great deal on filters as well.
Thanks for posting op.

Would have expected at least 420, wonder if it needs a few more runs

Thanks for posting, OP (ean)!

I too will be posting dyno results soon. I have a '13 C63 sedan (loaded but no PP).

Mods I'll be "testing" - ROW air boxes, Eurocharged V5 tune, and either Weistec or AFE dry air filters.

I've had 2 cars with LS engines...2001 Z28 and a 2006 Vette. Both with long tube headers but Camaro had a decent cam. Great engines. I'd love to do the swap with the 3rd gen RX7. Is it hard to find a 3rd gen? Also, is there a swap kit for it or do you fab everything yourself?

I've got a 507 sedan and will be applying the Eurocharged V5 tune.

Procedure I'm planning to run is:

- Do up to 6 dyno runs stock to ensure stock ECU learning is optimised for Dyno
- Apply the tune
- Disconnect the battery and reconnect it (this is feedback from Eurocharged)
- Do up to 6 dyno runs with the tune

This should give us a decent comparison of the before and after.

Hi there Bardman,

How did your sessions go with the 507? Looking forward to seeing the numbers!

there are plenty of lsX swap kits for 3rd gens. They arent hard to find just pricey, considering there's only about 12000 that made it in the us from 93-95. Just like mkiv supras only the hold their value less. I've actually got one forsale right now. rotary motor still runs but could use a refresh at 84k

back on topic..... every dyno is different. dont ever be disappointed with numbers. dynos are just another tool. the E.T. will tell the truth.

Just got back from the shop.

Frustrating day, I could not get the tune to load. I got an error "File incompatible with ECU". I am following this up with EC.

I did manage to get the before runs done, however, and peak KW at the wheels was 308 kw (converts to 413 hp).

I was really hoping to do before and after runs together to accurately measure the gains, but that will be difficult now, as I'm not going down to the dyno again with fingers crossed that the tune will load.

expected more out of all the mods honestly. but your baseline was pretty healthy.

my old 09 non p31 did 425 rwhp with just a tune for comparison sake

2012 C63 AMG, 1991 325iS. Ex: 2011 C63 P31
So can we now conclude that a tune on a P31 car will not show massive improvements in power?

Bardman, I am in the same place as you with a 507 and V5 tune coming within the next 2 weeks. Would still very much appreciate any updates you can share on the tune (difference it makes for driving and dyno result).

Btw., what did you specify for the tune you wanted? Do they give you options for fuel type it will be optimized for, speed limit and so on?
