C shaped light within headlamp as DRL

C shaped light within headlamp as DRL
I am the new owner of a 2012 Edition1 coupe. So far, I have nothing but good things to say about the car. This board is a great resource which has proved valuable in answering many of my questions about tuning, wheels, etc. Thanks to everyone who contributes.
I have a question regarding the C shaped (LED?) light insight of the headlight housing (face-lifted cars with the lighting package). It appears to only function when the low beams or high beams are turned on. Is this light supposed to run as a DRL, or is the DRL duty reserved for the LED strip on the front bumper? Have any members modded the headlamp to allow the c shaped light to serve as a DRL, for a look similar to the new S63, CLA, etc?

It is only on when your headlights are on (low beams) or when you have the parking lights on or whatever. In other words, no the C isn't on in conjunction with the LED strip except when you lock the car.
I would also like to have the LED and C portion on at the same time too. I have a friend who is good at wiring like this and will see if I can get this done.
