Matte Wood Trim
I recently had a W205 loaner. That car had the dark grey matte finished wood. Does anyone know of anyone that makes similar trim for the W204? I think it would look good in our cars. I like the low gloss finish and the open grain. The trim in our cars is simple enough that I even wonder if I could just make some. Thanks!

I don't know about wood, but you could always wrap the interior trim with CF or buy CF covers (if you're into that).

You have pics of it, the BMW stuff I have seen in person and it just looks like fake plastic wood, the gloss looks way better on the BMWs, curious what the Mercedes stuff looks like as I have not seen it.

It's hard to see the actual effect in pics. It looks very nice in person. Right now I have real CF that was poorly done, and I don't actually like the CF any more (ie-don't want to get new CF trim). You get what you pay for. Here is the trim I am talking about

i love the open grain low gloss wood trim on the newer models as well. if they come up with a vinyl with similar finish, i would def give it a go, until then, hope somebody here has an alternate suggestion.

I like that matte wood also. I'm pretty sure it's just a veneer, and not real solid throughout. Have you tried asking Matt if he can get ahold of the right material?

A few weeks ago I was looking into having leather dash covers fabricated for two cars. Shops are out there doing amazing things to the interiors of cars. You might call a few of the more highly-rated custom shops to see if they can laminate and then finish something like this on top of your OE trim. Probably $$$$$ though.

Sorry for the quick hijack, but I've been mulling this over for a couple years myself. Actually the only thing holding me back is that I haven't taken the time to figure out how to remove the upper dash yet - I think basically the whole thing has to come apart, and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get it put back together correctly and create rattles that make me want to drive into a wall. Think covering my upper dash in alcantara will be my winter project this year. Check out these links for some ideas, once you get the material and dash apart it doesn't look hard to do at all.

Pretty sure that 3M has some sort of Matte Wood Vinyl. Something like this looks like it could be easily replicated by vinyl, whereas real CF has that sort of sheen on it.

Most of the wood vinyl wraps out there that I have seen have a smooth finish to them, and do not have the depth/texture like the wood on the newer Mercedes cars.

I'm not the biggest fan of alcantara on the dash - it strikes me as having a bit of a kit-car look - but having taken a second pass on these threads it seems doable for the patient and mildly technically minded person. The thought of combining the dash with perforated alcantara inserts on the seats makes sense to me.

Hey Chris thanks for the idea, found some textured wood vinyl on ebay but decided to go with dark wood color on my E sedan. Heres where im at atm. Took me less than an hour to do the center console from disassembly. Easily reversible as well. Ill be working on the door panels and dash when i find time.

Haha. Nah I just turned 30! I'm just kind of tired of the shouty look of the CF I have. I want something some classy and subtle. And CF in a 4000 lb car...it's definitely not for lightness.
