C63 AMG 507 Edition
Good news:
- Standard locking diff
- Performance exhaust an option
- No real weight loss
- Still only 265 rear tyres
- No rear wheel arch flare
- Not faster than M3/M4 in straight line (will definitely be slower on the track)
- MCT retained
- "An additional manual mode can be accessed via the shift paddles, although the gearbox is programmed to revert back to full automatic operation for improved fuel economy savings"
- No 4WD option
- How it looks

side view beautiful, red stitching interior, recaros perfect-please do not send us this car with the glass panoramic roof why would I want weight there, look at BMW with carbon roof, i couldn't accept a C63 black series with that glass roof

Why C "63" unless the motor is is 6.3 liters displacement (6.208 rounds up to 6.3) dont call it a 63 unless it accelerates to 100 mph in 6.3 seconds or makes 630 hp

Agreed...wagon, so nice!!!!!
Sedan is a little ugly. And not the kind to grow on me. Of course, I'll always want the new technology, but I prefer the angled boxy version of the W204. In one of those rolling shots, I don't like the way the trunk comes off the back off the C pillar. Just looks weird. And of course with everyone else, where are the widened rear fenders. If they can do it up front, why not the rear? What's up MB?
2 interesting things from an article here:

"AMG sports exhaust system with two chromed twin switchable tailpipes and flap control over key"
Flap control? A C63 with artificial exhaust? Is that what I'm taking from this statement? Controllable sound? BOOO!!!!!!
"AMG DYNAMIC SELECT switch on the center console to select the five driving programs "Individual", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +" and "Race"
Individual setting? Anyone heard about this yet or have information on this? I'm not familiar with this transmission setting. I'd like to know more. Seems like it's implying there is some way to set up the shift patters or aggressiveness of the tranny. I don't get it. Seems like a gimmick.

And 2 more things:
The shift lever.............a branch on the steering column? Please!! That makes for a less than manly feel. It's no Buick or 80's sedan. Boo, again!!!
And, did everyone notice in all the shots, they were depicting an "S" model? None of the shots I've seen have been a "regular" C63. All "S" models.

I'll hold onto my W204... Not a fan of boost (I had the chance to buy the first new M4 in Calgary, and turned it down because of the stupid I6TT).
Maybe in 2-3 year's I'll move on to a 2014 507 coupe or something. Not really any naturally aspirated german V8 options out there anymore unfortunately. Stupid environmental laws.

Not artificial, it's like the aftermarket exhaust sold for w204's with a closed and open setting. My 135i had something similar. Sound loud vs quiet. Not like piping in the sound in the m5.

Yeah the BMW 35i cars have a vacuum powered flapper in the right half of the exhaust, it only opens up when you boost. My 2014 S4 had "sound piping" and it sounded very fake. When you changed drive select from comfort to sport all of the sudden the car would get very loud inside as if out of nowhere.

The interior is in another world.
You can't take AMG's claimed performance data as the gospel. According to AMG, the W204 C63 hit 60 in 4.3 or 4.4 seconds. Motor Trend, Car & Driver, and Road & Track all managed to cover the 0-60 sprint in either 3.8 or 3.9 seconds.
The S model will likely hit 60 in 3.7 seconds and cover the 1/4 mile in the high 11s. Those are my predictions anyway (and I think they're conservative, to be perfectly honest).

Yeah, still seems bu11**** to me. I hate that flap crap. Let the thing alone and be a true AMG grunt. I understand it's not "pipping" in, but controllable flap, gimmicks. I've been in both of those BMW's you guys described, meh. Didn't care for the strategically sounded exhaust.
I'm happy with my 507.

Anyone yet have info on the "individual" transmission setting? Weird? Doesn't seem possible for MB to let "us" decided on how the car shifts.
And the damn branch on the column..........yuck!!!

My guess would be trying to dabble into what the e60 m5 was like with 14 million different settings (suspension, shifts, etc etc etc)

Personal taste obviously varies. I think the W205 looks incredible, inside and out.

Is nobody else disappointed with this information? Its almost like they ignored all the feedback on the W204.
- MCT
- Skinny rears
- Fender flares
- Weight
- No AWD
And WTF with manual mode that shifts back to automatic by itself?
I wonder whether they addressed the oil cooling?

I dont believe the performance is understated. They have no reason to do this, particularly when they are not quoting better than the competition.
