In the DC area, I see way more M3s than C63s. :)
A lot more m3's around me as well. I've even seen more E63's than C63's and I have only seen 2 other c63's around me. There are 2 m3's in my neighborhood alone.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
BMW has worked it's butt off making the ///M line cars a "shining beacon" of performance. While they might be on the track, they are rubbish in the city. The torque figures are laughable, and only achievable at super high RPM's.
AMG has usually been on the side line, attracting those who know what they are talking about, or have a lot of money to throw around and want the "status" of a Benz (let's face it, MB has always been much more of a status car versus the other big German names).
In short, people who want over the top city performance (IE, good luck cutting me off) buy an AMG. Those who want some sort of track demon that some shoddy magazine calls the best, buy an M3. Those who want a car that looks nice and preforms ok buy an S4 (Had one too, they are a laughing stock compared to others in the price range).
M3 Coupe (tons of them - the default 'I made it/look at me' luxury sports car)
C63 Sedan (uncommon)
M3 Sedan (uncommon - way more coupes)
C63 Coupe (rare)
IS-F (rare - for those that just want to be different)
RS5 (very rare - you'd think they are more common for the weather but no, there are way more S4s as people don't want to pay the RS premium)

Just look a BMW car club meet vs ANY other, even Porsche
But that has changed for all marques
People buy now based on status, poser factor, trendy/style, hype and don't know jack shyte about cars...no appreciation any more, just man jewelry
How many know what AMG stands for without looking it up?
What it started as?

. I love my c63, very much, but that doesn't change the fact it's a c class and was only a entry level AMG before the cla came out.
