Hi Johnny in OZ here , i have decided to part with my RS6 and have gone too look at 2 C63's as i am craving RWD and some tyre smoking fun.....
i flew a few hundred miles to view a custom wide body C63 that in the pics looked great ...took a day off work spent just over 500 bucks on flights and cabs...only to look up close at thios thing for 4 mins and go back to the airport..possibly the worst body work and paint and seat condition i have seen ..most annoying esp seeing it was some 95K ......then i found a platinum stock C63 w/ LSD !!!! bingo i thought low kays and 88K drive-away ...but 1k deposit on her to hold it for a day while i had a buddy at MBHQ run the Vin.......guess what she was advertised as a 2010 with 47,000 klms...she was infact a 2009 with 95,000 klms ..........looked to have been a flood damaged car from QLD had near new front seats installed and fake log books w/ MB stamps...the dealer selling the car at first thought i was just being an *** to back out of the deal, but i had a copy of the history emailed to me and showed them, they then called MB and my report was verified.....the immediately pulled the car from sale and told me they would be seeking there money back and maybe trying to take however they got it from to court... ...guess i am lucky i have a buddy that can get me some more behind the scenes details (buyer beware) ........i hope i find a good one soon...i want to smoke it up for santa!
oh and yes the fake one had head bolts done in feb 2013............are they all ticking time bombs>??

That widebody one has been for sale for a long time.
It was FS in QLD for $120k. Then was off the market for a while, then back on the market from a Dealer in SA.
Even from the pics, it looked rough as guts. Well, mainly the pics from the QLD Private seller.
I waited a little for mine, and am very happy with it.
The price has come down ALOT, so picking up a 2010 for under $80k is JUST within reach now.
Not all cars are affected by the headbolt issue. But to be sure, try get one BUILT (not complied- BUILT) after May 2010. My friend has a May 2010 and her engine number is not in the affected range.
RS6 Avant was actually a contender for me when buying my C63 Estate. Love those cars. Such sleepers.

Thanks for the feedback and comments I even spoke to jerry who bought the car new and did the body work he stated it was immaculate when he did it? Well there was overspray on the weather strips the inside of the flares had the most hideous way of extending the guard liners the Rear bar had bigger gaps then a team of hookers it really was a butchers breakfast . My mate from mb called me last night for a heads up on a blk on blk 09 car he has w/ saled good price , so I will have a look at that next week ( it's coming from qld gulp") palladium is my fav colour but if the car and the history is good , I guess I will pull the trigger . I found an immac cls 63 with full designo int it was amazing however the iridium grey colour does not lend itself well to any after market ideas , blk highlights ,painted callipers etc . But on its on its a great colour for 80 year olds I thought.
Thanks for the tips on the vin too....amazed it took Benz 2.5 years to fix the head bolt issue
sorry to hear about your search so far - I am in Bris and picked up my 2010 late last year. Haven't posted too much as I don't have any mods or plan to do any so hard to 'fit in' in this forum. Even though I own one I still check out carsales most days for a peak and yes as stated they are coming down alot in price so with people trying to get rid of there cars from leases prior to the years end, I do hope you get yourself a good deal. i am still stunned by your experience with a dealer on the 09 car. Not knowing the dealership, I can't believe they wouldn't know !
If it helps mine is a June 10 build and my engine is exactly 1000 prior to the know fix to the headbolt issue so I assume you may want to look for one a few months later i.e sept / october but in one of my very few posts, I placed my reasoning behind why i think not to worry (with zero facts to back up my case ha)

how weird my friends is a just a month earlier and not in the affected range.
But i guess these engines are in 6 - 7 different models in 2010, so the engine numbers would be scattered in different vehicles / builds
I looked for over one year. I checked out 14 cars....looked at 9. I made a list along the way of everything I had to have...car fax, engine passed headbolt issue, condition, mileage, etc.
I finally found the right one. I bought a little high, but checked all the boxes on my list. It's a dream car for me. You'll love it. Don't compromise.
The right one will come your way...especially with the lowering prices from the 205 release and leased cars passed the headbolt problem coming on the market.

LSD isn't that much (comparatively speaking) to fit aftermarket so if the car ticks all the other boxes, just pull the trigger.
Good luck... I was seriously browsing around for the best part of a year (2012-2013) and only found what I was looking for in the last few months of that.
So I found a 2010 edition 63 in this amazing matte metallic silver beige leather etc 27,000 kms only . Not so keen on the beige anyhow went to see her omg what a colour but impossible to maintain, can't polish can't cut can't do anything ! And the car for the klms was another pig soft touch plastics all peeling ,finger nail marks everywhere dog claw marks in the rear etc , dealer said imac and suit most fastidious buyer well my rs6 had done 130k when I sold it yes with ,.my dog riding shot gun almost daily , not a mark inside sat on a yoga mat and seat cover , it's a shame what some women do to car interiors sill panels and door handles . The search continues

Bloody oath! Like 6 months , I saw so many pigs it was slightly concerning but not surprising as in my country particular races are attracted to this car
