Transmission Oil Temperatures
Does anybody have actual data on what our tranny temperatures typically are? Maybe someone with Performance Media?
I have recently started playing with Torque (the OBDII Scanner App). It shows transmission oil temperature as warming up surprisingly quickly (within 5 miles of cold start or so) to a temperature of 204-210 degrees F. Then it appears to be controlled very narrowly in that band. Is that possible, or is it really showing some other temperature sensor like coolant and erroneously displays it as transmission oil?
Thanks!

Is there anybody out there who is (occasionally) tracking transmission oil temps? Does 204 - 210 degrees F sound right?

Based on my air cooled P-Car days, I can tell you the proper oil operating temp is from 180 deg F to 220 deg F. I recognize that’s a common quote for engine oil temperature, however transmission oil has similar issues. If the oil is too cool it’s too thick and robs horsepower. In addition, transmissions have a breather hole that allows air to enter and exit. Air has moisture. Below 190 deg F the moisture may not all burn off.
