The new mhp headers made by ARH sounds completely different from the mhp version one headers.

The biggest difference in sound is that it's docile when you drive responsibly and a lot meaner/louder without tof much of an increase in rasp.

Have you guys that purchased the ARH/MHP headers installed your headers yet? I'm curioius about your thoughts. So far I'm only aware of 4 installs.
For those that were waiting to buy, spring is here! Time to awaken the beast! MHP is apparently honoring the gb pricing to mbworld members.

Really - only 4 installed? Wow!
I have mine on since almost 5000 miles now. I have also this week changed to an MHP tune (coming from a Eurocharged V5). And tomorrow I'll be taking the car to Mid-Ohio to test the whole setup on the track to the hilt. That will also give me a read on oil cooling capacity with the oil cooling upgrade.
I can give an update on all of this when I get back - can't wait to leverage all the mods!!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to hearing your perspective regarding the matched tune.

What are your thoughts of the system after a few thousand miles?

That said, I'm only considering a catback since I drive pretty hard in a populated area. I've had some negative feedback about the volume (even flipped off a couple times!).

Folks, thought I'd give everybody a quick update:
I now have the MHP V2 headers for 5,500 miles. About 1,500 miles ago I added an Akrapovic slip on and about 500 miles ago I went from the EC V5 tune to a MHP tune. Did not yet have time to do a calibrated dyno tune yet, but for now have a base tune from MHP.
I posted previously, that I love the MHP headers - the car felt totally refreshed and more alive when I installed them. I did not care for the sound with stock mufflers all that much, as I drive the car every day. Too loud, especially on cold starts, but also when driving normally, e.g. during my commute. With the Akrapovic, the liveliness is still there, but the throaty deep AMG sound is back. Just a little louder than stock. I am loving that!
Now I have taken the MHP tune through its paces for about 500 miles: Again the car is way more lively (not just compared to stock, but compared to the EC tune). In every day street driving I noticed different shift points (moved to higher revs). That is the most pronounced when hitting the brakes in S+: The engine shifts down and revs the engine to 5000 rpm plus and gives a lot of engine brake. It also makes power much more immediately available when getting out of the curve. Before, many times I felt the engine rpm was really chosen for fuel efficiency rather than to harmonize with the engine, at least with headers, hence I was driving exclusively in M. As a result of the MHP tune I have rediscovered S and S+ and am loving it!!
Btw, I found this on you tube: A C63 BS with only headers, tune and pads on the Mid-Ohio track. I'll do the same on Saturday!!! :-) Enjoy!

MBW just did a story on a MHP C63 with ECU tune and LTs airport drag racing a Ferrari F458 Italia and a SLS AMG:

Yes - that is exactly my setup (except maybe the Akrapovic slip-on)! The video is not that explicit about the catback setup.
Totally agree the car is a total beast with MHP headers and tune. I will get to enjoy the full extent of it Saturday at Mid-Ohio. There should also be an SLS there - and this time we will not be snowed out....

Wobble aka Bernhard,
Thanks for allowing us to come by and watch the Mid-Ohio event on saturday. Your car sounds and ran amazing! The best group to watch was your car with the SL63 biturbo and CLA45. You guys were like glue all over each other lol!
Thx

Glad you enjoyed it - we really had a blast. I never thought I would get the car to 3-4 mpg... New brake pads are on order!

FYI I received my Gen II LTs and X pipe last week. X pipe comes standard, not an add on like other brands, price shipped to my door was cheaper than any other LT header before shipping by several hundred dollars. Car makes sick power and torque and sounds like a bat out of hell. GP pricing is still good for MBW members, just get in touch with ARH.

I paid a visit to American Racing Headers this week and spoke with the owner. He mentioned to me that he is honoring the group buy pricing from last year and is also willing to throw in free shipping.
This is an awesome set of headers and at last years GB pricing. You can contact Nick at American Racing Headers to take advantage of it. You can quote the price from the group buy on MBworld.
