Ported heads

Who here is running ported heads on a NA c63?
Have you dyno'd it? If so what power are you making now how much did you pick up?

Reason I ask is late jan early February, I'm pulling my heads off to get ported.

Just curious, but are you doing the ported heads from Weistec?

No, not weistec. It's someone in Aus. I'm not doing the cams either. Just porting the heads and fitting bigger valves.

A former vendor here (MHP) posted pictures of sexy CNC ported heads. I don't recall seeing any documented gains though.

Supercharged applications may benefit nicely fwiw.

Pretty sure Dads C63 had MHP ported heads. I don't remember any gains posted but you might find his impressions in a thread if you search.

Here is one thread:

Bigger valves going to be possible? Checking valve to valve and piston to valve? Clay bar?

I'd leave the exhaust valves and just do the intake. Exhaust probably flows plenty.

Will you be posting flow numbers before and after?

I will be posting flow numbers before and after.

I have seen dads threads, but no actual hp figure was ever recorded from my observation.

This typically isn't a good sign.

A lot of pissing around for 20horse. Get a blower and be done with it.

I think heads are worth more then 20hp. Weistec claim 50hp. Judging by mhp's creditability, I'm not surprised they only made 20hp. I could be wrong and gain only 10hp. Track and dyno will tell. Also I don't want supercharged.

This is very interesting! Would love to hear from any vendors if they had experience with porting the heads. 40-50WHP is something I am very interested in obtaining if I can achieve it while still staying NA.

To take the heads off from the car, the engine needs to come out. It's not easy and requires 20+ hrs in labor. On top of it the stock heads already outflow nascar. AMG did a very good job maximizing intake/exhaust. The price it would cost to get done, it's only logical to get a supercharger. And, since you don't want the blower then my advice is to leave it be. Because, there's no point in disassembling a perfect motor that came immaculate from AMG if it not broken. Those heads from Weistec are for someone who has the Stage 3 blower and is trying to squeeze every last drop from this engine.

If he doesn't want to change the driving dynamic of the car, then a supercharger is out of the question, as you've changed how the power is applied by adding large amounts of instant torque).

If you pull the engine, might as well spend the money and do a full NA build, heads, cams, larger valves, SLS lifter buckets... Anyone do a B+S kit for the 6.2? Perhaps a 6.8 is in order? Kind of like how Dinan does a 4.6 for the E92 M3.

Coming from a Boss 302 to this car, I have to believe the heads are as good or better in the C63. The coyote 5.0l Ford made great power with heads, cams, and exhaust but as far as the split in gains the head porting did the least. My porter said with previous ford four valve heads he could pick up a good bit by working the short and long turns and with bowl work. With the Boss heads he said most of the gains came from the valve job. So it stands to reason with the C63 having better heads factoring in the labor to remove them and then reinstall them probably not worth it. My cams and AR headers picked up the most gains fwiw I ended up with 484rwhp at 7500rpm with the Boss. It was fast, until I got this car lol. My '11 P31 came with mods and a 500rw dyno graph, just trying to figure out exactly whats done to it.
