Pipercross air filters. Has anyone seen this before?
I replaced the stock filters with pipercross filters.
Was going to clean them after 4 month of use and found this.
The rubber lip on the narrow side closest to the air inlet ripped.
The whole filter seemed to be bowed towards the air inlet.
My guess at the moment is that the filter moved up and down during acceleration and wore out the rubber lip. The filters aren't really ridged and flex easy.
Any thoughts?

I know from prior experience via an oil analysis how much higher than normal the level of silica particulates is in the oil with a tear like that. You definitely want to replace that.

I've always heard these are short term/race filters. Not suitable for DD use.
The K&N's work great, though if you happen to have to winter drive... Modding in a small piece of mesh on both snorkels to catch any of the bigger stuff is a good idea. Because theres no 90 degree elbows in the piping so much crap collects in the filter housings, and eventually it sneaks it's way in.

I'm working on some mesh and I'm trying to shape them to a cone to increase the surface of the mesh so I don't lose too much airflow. I will inset them into piping where the clip connection is.
I ended up ordering me a set of aFe dry filters. I super glued the pipercross filters for temporarily use.

Tried all of them. From my logging device seems like the aFe pro R let most air in. And they are oiled ones. http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...amg&brandID=59
