^^^ I'm in VA and have run my V1 every day for 5 years. No issues. People always ask "isn't that illegal?" And I respond "so is speeding...guess which holds a higher penalty." RD ticket is the same as a burned out tail light. I've always been curious about the redline, and at this price, it's tempting...

I originally purchased a RedLine. I called today and added a Max2 to the order. I will see which performs better and sell the other one.

Ha! You very well could have, but I have done zero research on the Max so I couldn't tell you. I have 2 V1s so I should probably sell one and get a redline! The bad part is the C63 is hardwired for the V1 with a concealed display IN the center console. Same with my lexus. The Dodge is less permanent...

Thanks. I was told it was a felony to get caught with a radar director and apparently they will make you break it in court as well. I guess I should do a little more research. Thanks a lot. I might get one then. Much appreciated #teambenz

DUI isn't even a felony here...at least not the first time. If you get a ticket, they write down the serial number. It's $100 plus processing which is like $60. I did get one RD ticket. I was alone at night on a divided highway with cruise set at maybe 10 over. A car about a mile back. I suddenly get a full spike and didn't look at my arrows without hitting the brakes. Blue lights immediately. He wouldn't have known if I had used my RD properly. He did what I listed above. They can take your RD but are required to give it back to you in court. I assume thats only for a speeding ticket. I'm not sure if DUI or reckless is involved if they would let you have your RD back, but then you have bigger problems. Furthermore, RD detectors are not highly proliferated in VA. And if they were to get a signal on it, which car on the highway has the RD?! It's not like when your RD goes off and you see a crown vic and say "ah, there is the cop I detected..."

Here in Canada they are legal in Alberta, and BC I believe.

Yes, I happen to own them. They are the semi-latest iteration of the old and fabled LIs ( laser interceptor). Good for about 98%!of the guns you'll most likely see! but there's still 2 %! to worry about that can still get you. You can buy stand alone or with the latest 9500 Ci remote with LSP. from Escort Radar. Note that the 9500 Ci got band segmentation and RDR selectivity just last month and is now near as good as the original Stir-O ( original).
The LSPs haven't been updated in well over a year and that's the issue.

Bump for update, but did you ever get that Redline? With BSRDR it's the best of the best for windshield mounts. Plus, in Va they'll never know you've got it. FWIW, in Va, the SP can sniff out a V1 with the Spectre Elite over a qtr mile away. Not so with the Redline. Our extensive tests of the new Redline over the past two years show it smoking the V1. If you can do without arrows , Redline is by far the best.

Nope. And I can't do without my arrows. Spectre is not highly proliferated in VA. And as I stated before, detecting my RD is one thing. Finding which car on the freeway has the RD that's creating that signal is another. It is not analogous to getting a tickle on your RD and seeing a crown vic.
Yeah, I get it. Fwiw, if you ever get the hankering for a new RD, the Redline is truly a marvel in detection less the arrows. We have extensively tested the V1 against it and by far off axis and Ka band alerts, the Redline just kicks some serious booty. Problem with all the units now is K band falsing from mobile sources ( other cars BSM systems) . The V1 particularly suffers from this unless upgraded to tmf2.

Speedings legal, but radar detectors aren't?
Just kidding. What I want to ask is - I have heard how incredibly harsh the speeding penalties are for speeding. Whats the penalty for a radar detector then?
Seems to me I would do most anything to avoid a speeding ticket there.

Anyone know if Escort is going to offer similar discount with the next CES? Is Escort going to be there? Anyone going? Any Black Friday discount on Escort RD coming up?
