Porterfield Brake Pad R4S From LPI Racing

Hi Guys,

I just ordered a set of Porterfield R4-S Brake Pads FROM LPI Racing in Livermore, CA. ASK FOR MONTE ANDERSON!

Front part number 1291 and rear part number 1373 .

Monty was great, didn't rush me on the the phone took the time to answer all my questions. They are located here in Northern California and I highly recommend them. Not to mentioned he has the best prices on these I could find.

Porterfield R4-S Carbon Kevlar Perf. Street Pad. AP 1291 R4-S
$262.95

Porterfield R4-S Carbon Kevlar Perf. Street Pad. AP 1373 R4-S
$113.95

When changing from OEM to these brake pads, do you need any other parts? I think I remember reading something about some sensor that might need to be replaced as well? I could be wrong.

OP, these pads are regular pads (ie street use) right?

I don't need anything special, just something that dusts less.

Im about to get these installed this Friday.. Heard they're phenomenal pads.. Obviously much less dust than the oem pads, looking forward to getting these on asap. And yea they're for street use. Im pretty sure it's just a simple swap, nothing else needs to be added.

I get my Porterfields from TopBrakes as well, but they take soooo long to ship the parts!

Good to know there's a local source!

Yup! Street usable, simple swap out, way less dust than OEM; just make sure to use a bit of copper anti-seize on the back plating for easy installation the next time.

The pads need a bit of heat in them to fully maximize the friction, but after that, you have tremendous stopping power!

There was a recent DIY brake thread, search and ye shall find. The sensors are extremely easy to swap out - as are the pads. I just did all four corners with R4S's and it was surprisingly easy.

Yes, on the passenger side (both f & r). I'll see if I can post some pics. But, simple needle nose pliers and a gentle tug will detach them from the pad area. And a 8 mm socket to detach from the caliper. Get in there and look around. This is easy!

Yes, buy the sensors. They are super easy to replace.

See the wire?

Use needle nose pliers to gently pull the connector straight out.

Then use a 8 mm socket to detach from the caliper so you can get it out of the way.

Use a hole punch on the outside of the pins and needle nose vise grips on the inside.

Might as well use the old pads to depress the pistons.
