C 63 software tune
Does anyone know what software MHP uses for the c 63? I had mine done by them and I'm getting good numbers on the dyno but the AFR is a bit on the lean side. I would like to tune the car while on the dyno to get the best results. Any help would be greatly appreciated

where are they tapping the wideband into? does the car still have cats? Are they logging the factory oxygen sensors - which i will add are also wideband. Sniffer in the tailpipe isnt accurate at all if you have cats - and would explain the crazy afr. n/a motors are normally in the 13's, anything lower than 12.5:1 afr is just sloppy on n/a. 15-16afr is like meltdown level under power, i sure hope thats not really the case.

The shop that I dyno'd at would like to get it running a little richer through out the power band for longevity and safe for the motor as in the 12 range he was wondering if any one knows the software that modern horsepower uses. I have gotten conflicting info

No cats they are deleted sniffer in the tail pipe but we are going to install bung plugs at the end of the headers for better readings

well thats scary. Hopefully their sensor took a crap or something. I dont know what software they use. Next time you test it, hook some sort of obd logger up and see what your primaries are reading. good luck.

I use the torque app from the playstore connected to the stock widebands, I use a BAFX Bluetooth scan tool for the obd2. Works awesome if you guys need a good logger when you can't get over to the dyno. Lots of parameters, actually everything that has a sensor in the car.

Have you tried communicating with MHP about this issue? After all they are the ones responsible for reselling this tune and are probably the only ones who know the details for sure. They are also likely the only one that will deal directly with you about your MHP tune.
I did hear a rumor that MHP was sourcing MB tunes through Weistec but a rumor is all it is.

I heard that roumer too and one that the tune from MHP is using tunes from Techtec so who really knows. I did contact MHP and they said the numbers are fine and I need to get a better reading closer to the header not at the tail pipe.

I also got the 180 degree thermostat from them and we didn't see any difference in temp after putting the new one in I do find it odd that there is no temp change when MHP charges $400 for a Mercedes thermostat

Yes but I believe Techtec has been out of the picture for a long time with regards to MHP. Again only rumor. I believe they were the ones that put epoxy on the ECU so that no one else could access it through the pinouts on the motherboard.

Just unhappy and trying to diss Andy? You are not the first nor will you likely be the last. Customer sales seems to be Andy's forte not customer service.

Actually I'm very happy with everything that has been installed. I do work for Mercedes and we cross referenced the thermostat and they were both the same, now Andy had told me that he changes the spring to pop open sooner (180) and that is just fine with me if that is truly the case. The car is making the power that he calmed it would the headers and mid pipes are awesome a bit loud but I can get the cats for it if it is too annoying or I get ticked for the noise. I would just like to be able to tweak the tune in the future on the dyno as in real time not sending the unit to MHP or anyone for that matter

I have MBH LTH with catted mids, xpipe and OEM catback and I love the sound although it is loud and probably obnoxious to some bystanders. I try to be careful where I let it sing but even on the highway and passing cars it will be loud if I am on the throttle at all.
As for tuning is the tune locked? If so you may have to dyno tune from stock. I know Andy has worked with some customers, in the past, looking for more power or dyno tuning but can't tell what it takes except it probably involves money and/or track results going to his credit. There is a post in here (may have been on Benz Boost) of cars being dyno tuned at some anonymous location. GL working with Andy. Just ask mthis.

You should just give MHP a call to find out what's going on rather than attempt to blindly modify the a/f ratios. You can easily end up with a blown motor. It sounds like you have been fine with the service that MHP has provided you so far, so why not just give them a call?
I second posting up your sheets. Do you have any cats in place?

Your A/Fs are fine, as you were told you used a tailpipe A/F sensor (mistake #1) and unless it was a Horiba (mistake #2) it's inaccurate.
If you were really running 16:1-17:1 A/Fs you wouldn't have an engine. The knock sensors would detect a misfire and shut each cylinder down as it misfired until you key cycled it.
Go to a different dyno or buy a dual band A/F meter and log for yourself, otherwise enjoy what you have.
I watched MHP tune my CLA45 ECU over the weekend and they are using my car for exhaust fabrication and other hardware mods you won't see from anyone else. They affirmed they do not work with Weistec or Tecktech for software and the CLA runs like a beast. Dynos coming this week.

Talked to MHP going to try a different dyno than the one I used and install the plugs to get better more accurate readings. They have reassured me everything is fine.
