Oil Leak From Cap and Cam Shaft Cover

Noticed some dried oil around the oil cap.

On further inspection noticed a heap of oil under the car while it was on the hoist.
Passenger side (left side) tray.

Turns out it's a leak from the passenger side (left) cam shaft cover.

Is this common? What would've caused this?

The weather has been very hot here and the car has been driven quite hard in the heat lately.

Weather has been around 38 celsius - 100 farenheit.
And the cars oil temp has been around 120 celsius - 248 farenheit after some hard driving during the heat.

Could that have cause combustion or for it to leak?

Yes you have a failed gasket.
That is the second time I'm seeing a post about this issue not so long ago.
How many miles on the car?

70 000kms
Could it have been due to driving it hard in the heat?

All done. Car was returned, repaired.
Was the cam shaft gasket, etc.
Was told to drive it hard for 500km and return it to the workshop and they'll inspect and see how it's all going.

Same here. Replaced valve cover gasket and now there's no more oil leak.
