Do people think you're driving faster than you are?
So today I'm coming back from getting gas and driving down through my neighborhood, always careful in residentials particularly mine because there's some crazy drivers and some big dips in areas.
Nice day upper 60s so windows are mostly down, I see a guy come out to his car parked on the road and he sees me I assume and gets off the street behind his car...I'm thinking cool he sees me and is being careful, but as I pass he starts screaming at me its a residential area.
So I KNOW I'm not going fast but double check and nope not even doing 30mph (residential speed limit). All I can assume is he just thought I was going faster based on sound .
I've hears griping from the passenger seat before that I'm going to fast and have to tell her I'm going exactly the speed limit.
This happen to everyone? Is this amg exhaust profiling ?

Had the same - got yelled at to slow down. Except in my case he was right - I was doing 28 in a 25 zone. :-) Now, had I been in my SUV, nobody would have batted an eye at 40 mph.
Similarly try this: Doing 30 in 4th gear is fine, doing the same 30 in second gear and people will think you are speeding.

Yes this happened to me on my street just because I sometimes downshift hard to the stop sign before entering the subdivision and the fukks house is on the corner... last summer he was standing outside with one of the neighbours and he steps into the middle of street and starts waving his hands to "Slow Down" ... I roll past them and kick it down it neutral while giving him the finger. I have never driven over the speedlimit on my street as there are lots of young families.

Our neighborhood gets random radar patrols too so I'm very careful....this guy man I really had a momentary urge to yell back but decided to keep moving. Should have downshifted to 2nd just to make myself happy

Happens to me all the time.
This car sounds mean. People just assume you're going fast or driving aggressively. I get looks all the time and even got a finger once. I keep on driving and consider this as ordinary people's tip to AMG engineers.

I generally follow the "don't crap where you eat" rule as far as my neighborhood is concerned, and slow way down, and back into C mode. Actually, in any neighborhood I'll tone it done as mentioned above you don't know if kids will run out, etc. On the open road, that's another story. But I definitely don't want to **** of my neighbors, so I totally tone it down. No one's complained yet, so fingers crossed...

My defence for a loud car is that at least the kids will hear it! Imagine ripping a TESLA -very scary!
ps. The guy on the corner drives a Mazda 3 and Im very aware of his jealousy....

Yea one time I was leaving campus at my university and going out of the parking garage where alot of undergrad students cross to get to their classes or cars.. Was going really slow, had the windows down and this stocky looking troll with her friend was about to cross but then stopped and as I passed by, yelled into my window to "slow down" , I just downshifted heavily right after she said that, wanted to yell back but not worth my time..

I crawl through my neighborhood so parents don't get angry who have kiddies out and about.
The place I do get reactions is at traffic lights. If I'm first at a light next to someone with something they think is quick, they'll usually gun it. Mind you, I don't really race on the street and never gun it off the line because I don't want to cause a mess. It is just funny to see how many people thing I am racing them and just go for it.

Noise means speed to the Pedestrian or porch sitter. If you went by at 80 if they couldn't hear you they might not notice.
A sudden noise or increase in noise puts their system on defensive. It is nature.
Perception from passenger compartment is no different to some.
I sometimes find myself going ahm... a bit over the limit because it is smooth and quiet with only the baritone burble, of the engine exhaust. have to look at the speedometer occasionaly or when I notice telephone polls seem to be awfully closely spaced.
I like a quiet cruse but when it bellows it just reinforces that you are squirting out of the traps.
Sound was one of the big attractions at the drag strip in the sixties and seventies.
Two 56 Corvettes with 292 cube engines blowing to the line together burnouts together and leaving the line wheels up with banshee screams as the littlem otors passed 10,000. Or Super Stock hammer, of the hemis or the back fire and bombastic scream of a 427 Ford or the wail of a cammer or distinctive rat motor wail. hate the 350 sounds though.
Leave it on C and ease through your neighborhood. Friends are hard to come by sometimes.

Yep happens all the time to me too. I pull up to the light, they jock my ride, light turns green and they try to race. I usually just drive off at a normal pace like wtf! Usually mustangs, Camaro, and vettes. Occasionally a Honduh too.

And the occasional C250 with quad tail pipes. That's always fun to watch.

It's funny that never happens to me. I do get people who are obviously doing a double take trying to figure out how that Benz made that noise.
Last week a guy in an aston caught up to me and paced me for a second , I think he was trying to figure out what I had after I downshifted at a light

Happened to me one morning. I'm in the right lane, some POS in the left. I take off like normal then pull into the gas station a few 100m ahead.
Get out and start filling the pig up. The guy at the pump across from me says "I guess you were racing"... I replay with "yeah I guess so and looks like I lost".
