Jeep to an amg??? Are you nutts!

Jk. Got into an 09 AMG after having a 2008 jeep srt. And almost bought the facelift srt8 but went with another 2013 c63 instead. The jeep is menacing. And power mods are available for half the price of a benz. You can make that car an even scarier monster than it already is. The newer jeeps blow the old ones out the water, and I'll tell you, I STILL miss my jeep. I used to beat everyone and everything, had a sc on it.

Speculation as of now but I'm hearing about it on alot of different dodge forums and it seems like a promising thought. Although, production has been suspended for the Hellcats due to its crazy demand. Maybe once they slow down a bit with the Dodge's, Jeep gets a go at it

I literally google it every day to see if i can find any more info about a release, dont tell the dealers that though, i still need to be able to walk in and at least seem like I'm able to walk away without putting down a downpayment.

I read a limiting factor is that they are bottlenecked by powerplant development and man-power of getting them out fast enough. I heard also, if it does, it will make an appearance at the NY auto show in April. I can only imagine that the issue will continue with Dodge as well, with dealers up-charging them into the stratosphere.

I also read ( can you tell i'm trying to find info) in order to even sell any type of current hellcat, the dealer has to sell X amount of regular cars on the lot, and its sell, not have in stock at the dealer, and they can only have 1 at a time. maybe just rumors as well but doesnt bode well even when/if they release the jeep version for my pocket book. it will turn into a Mecum auction....for a jeep!

I know, I'm #5 on a list for Charger and was just told " it may be a 2016 model".

Allocation is based on last 90 days of cars sold. Fiat is penalizing dealers as best they can for selling over msrp. Any HC from original allocation that sits unsold on lot has a negative effect on their future allocation. Basically, you want to wait for buyer at msrp +$10k? That's your choice, but well skip you on the next round of allocation. My dealer is strictly msrp.

And yes, ITI is having issues meeting demand with the blower production.

if you dont mind me asking in a general sense, how was the environment when purchasing or getting put on the waiting list? Were you able to get MSRP? was it upcharged?? did you spec yours out or just waiting for next available? any info I can use to gauge potential snags if the 'Cat does arrive and I begin to feel saucy...

$1k deposit, check or cash, and you spec out your options at that time. You'll get a VIN when it hits production. There are guarantees on production timeline though.

My dealer is msrp. You just have to make sure your dealer has allocations and isn't collecting deposits for the heck of it, which is happening. I'd ask how many HC Challengers they delivered and where you are on the current waiting list. That'll give you a general of idea of timing for delivery. Most larger dealers should get at least one a month allocation.

This and that.
So I test drove the jeep gunned it a little as well and it was good fun and it's not really slow by any means but I can't shake the AMG to Jeep feeling. It was fun to drive and it's quick for a SUV but how do I convince myself that AMG to that isn't a downgrade. Even with 10K down I'd be looking at about $150 a month more than what I pay for my AMG.

If I lived in a North American snow zone I would likely have a summer and winter car. Given car prices over there (I appreciate that Canada may be pricier than the USA but you should see how much we get reamed for the same product in Australia), is not a late model used 4wd a vialbe addition to the C63?

Get the 2014 JGC, I love my c63 but the JGC SRT8 is probably my next ride when I replace the c63.

That was the older MB transmission in the JGC, in 2014 they replaced it with an 8 speed that significantly changes the high speed issues the original WK2 had. Would love to see that repeated with a 2014 stock for stock while I don't know if the JGC would then win, I can guarantee you it would be much closer. And lets not forget the JGC driver has a briefcase full of $100 bills that the ml63 driver doesn't after purchase!

Hands down as a current AMG driver I would buy the JGC SRT8 over the ML63.

I personal much prefer the ml looks to the jeeps but I'm also leery of jeep after having known several people with issues over the past 6 yrs...yet those same people are brand loyal and go right back to jeep/dodge

I cannot comment on the goods/bads of the new Jeep SRT..I must say they have certainly come a long way..especially now that they share some dna from the Merc..they look very good (imo except for those headlights) and offer good value for amenities versus the higher costing Europeans...I also have not driven one although surmise they perform well..

That said what I can tell you is how I really like my ML..with the tune it is blisteringly fast for a 5000 lb slug...handles exceptionally with the active suspension...is VERY quiet and tight...well made with a gorgeous interior..offers excellent braking and for me fantastic service support that I have never needed to date other than for service...it's pricey but I can afford it so this is why I drive my ML63 AMG and not a Jeep which I bet is a good fit for many...just not me

Nanook, beautiful ML!!

I think if they make a JGC Hellcat, I'll trade in my Wrangler and my 507 might go up for sale. :-)

In regards to the 0-62 of 5.3 for the SRT in the video, I feel that is pretty off of the 14 model. I have never been above 4.4 and a low of 4.0 in 0 degree weather with just an intake. Havent been to the track and don't do anything near 1/4 mile speeds on public roads, so can't comment on top end.

I wouldn't mind a ML or even Cayenne, X5M, RR Supercharged but they all cost more than what I am willing to spend at the moment. Test drove the Jeep and thought it was okay at best I guess. I mean it's fairly quick when put in sport mode and downshift and gunned but of course has nothing not the C63 in terms of the feel. Even sounds too refined and what not. I don't know as of right now I think I am thinking the Jeep is a no as much as I like the looks of it.

Also checked out the Audi S5 and loved this thing. It's gorgeous as far as the looks are concerned and I read that with a simple tune they perform almost as well as the RS5, so it's in the running I've got to say. I am also looking at CLA 45AMG but keep thinking that would be too obvious of a downgrade lol.

If I get a car it has to be AWD, looks good and 'decen't enough power. Of course it can't be as much as C63 but still decent. Finally if the brand is a good one, that doesn't hurt.

i'd look for a lightly used RS5. 8k+ rpm V8 is amazing the it's probably the best looking coupe on the market. they can be found pretty reasonable with under 10k miles.

I looked and was very serious at one point, it was my number 1 option. was waiting on a fully optioned one being shipped in with the black out package and in the blue color fully loaded. but its not a very practical 4 seater ( i have a 4dr 63). Also killed my buzz when they told me it didnt have a sunroof, only tilt. I'm a sucker for sunroofs.

off topic but when I was waiting for it, they told me they wouldnt even let me drive it as they didnt want to put miles on it. I told them I was never going to buy an 80k+ car without driving it. Went to the benz dealer and the rest is history. They kept calling me after for a whilie and finally said I could drive it around the block, but I told them I had already made up my mind and bought a c63

FYI, RS5 is considerably slower when compared to a C63. Vid I shot back in 2013.

I didn't realize 4-doors was a requirement. Yes I know it's slower but it's a stunning car with an amazing sound and AWD. it was my backup car but I found the perfect C63 coupe when i was looking.
