A good while back i read something here about the motors and wires are in the mirrors but the computer wasn't instructed to fold the mirrors.
It would be handy in the tight spots mandated by NHTSA and EPA to encourage small cars twenty years ago.
Can I reprogram it or does the Dealer need to? dealer doesn't seem to know about it.

You need mirrors with folding motors, switches and dealer programing.

in theory yes, but its going to be pretty much impossible through a dealer. mbusa wont allow modification of oem sa coding. It's password protected and can only be modified by a handful of people in the country which wont do it. so with that being said, it's not going to happen.

Well, I retrofitted the folding rear view mirrors a few years ago on my 2013 C350 coupe. You need the left and right folding mirror frames (which has the folding mechanism and motor and wiring), door control modules, and YES, you need to find someone that has access to change the codes in MB computer system. Then you have to go to a dealer to have SCN coding done. Oh, you also need a new window control panel so it has the button for folding in and out.

So if I had the old style looking mirrors on my 08 C63 but it has the folding mechanism, would I be able to put in the newer style looking mirrors and still have it fold??
