new nav maps dvd, u wouldnt believe the price
so i have a 2012 my 13 c63 and its running the 2012 dvd disc. i dont use it much and i really dont think roads have changed that much, but i asked my workshop how much the latest nav disc would be.
he took my old disc serial number and then made a few calls. a genuine disc is aud $700.
jesus, what a rort.
i was told that this is the only way to update, and the disc cant be shared.
any other info out there regarding this ridiculous outrage

Don't buy a mercedes if you're going to complain about the cost of a Map CD. Next you'll be complaining about fuel economy.
You don't need to change it i don't think things have changed in a year or two.

i totally get the whole "u gotta pay to play" mantra. yes, i bought an expensive car, so i should expect to keep paying for its upkeep. well, yes and no. i managed to achieve a lot in life with not much, and its a mindset that i like to keep with me as i think it keeps me grounded.
just because i have money now, doesnt mean i like to be foolish with it, and you ahve to agree, $700 for a map update is taking the ****. everyone likes to research and know that they can get the best price for whatever they are looking to buy, whether its an amg, or a pair of shoes. if your the type that doesnt have to think twice about spending hundreds or thousands of dollars, then thats cool. you win in life.
and you are right, i dont think sydney roads have changed much, and in reality, i dont deviate much from where i drive, i was just researching this maps thing firstly

ill also be researching the best alternative brake components such as pads and rotors vs using oem.

Here in the States, I recently received an email touting the updated map DVD for $299 (or was it $229). I don't know the US->AUS exchange rate but $700 AUS seems out of line.

With the current exchange rate. Usd 299 is aud 381.
700 was the stealership price. And that's part for the course in Australia. The c63 on road driveaway new was aud$175k give or take, or abou usd$135k. Yes, we get raped when it comes to cars

BS. The cost of an effing NAV disc has no relation to the production cost of the car. And what about the base model C250 owners who only paid slightly more than a Honda Accord owner? They have to swallow the gouge too? There is a difference between something being expensive and something for which you are being raped. One is acceptable and understandable and the other is despicable. Shame on MB.

When RawBenz bought his C63 he was mentally prepared (or at least willing) to be *** raped. Opinionated as ****? Yup. But at least the man is prepared.

That said, I recently received an email from MBusa stating that I could order the disk for 200$(USD).
There's no shame in being money conscious. Wealth is not accumulated by spending it all!

I'm pretty sure the disc are reusable between cars, despite what the dealer told you. Last year, a fellow forum member bought a set of update navigation disks and was able to share it amongst multiple forum members, me being one of them. We just paid a portion of the total cost as a "group buy."

Hey guys so let me get a hold of the maps and see if I can make them available for download, I can setup a small FTP server and provide a link maybe charge a small fee depending on how large the files are to cover bandwidth costs for me, but if its not to much effort I will make them free if I can.

Ask OP about Barry O'Farrell and his previous Liberal government in NSW Australia lol.
Took them 15 years to complete 1 lane on the M2 Motorway.
We are very sure the roads have not changed in 2 years lol. If they have, they've probably cut out a lane on a freeway to make room for a bus lane or even another cycle lane to accomodate the 15 cyclists per day who travel on a 45km stretch of freeway...
This guy thinks he knows NSW Roads lol.
