Home made 507 side stripes
After enquiring to MB for a set of 507 sidestripes I was absolutely stunned at the price. Over £400 for a bit of vinyl...... oh and the fact they wouldn't sell me any unless I provided the VIN for an edition 507 !!
So not to be beaten I did some digging around to find out the colour of the vinyl and order some myself. Avery 700 series 759-01 Komatsu Grey seemed to be a pretty good match and at £6 per metre I ordered some in.
Cutting the stripes wasn't too hard but I had to get our graphics department at work to cut the trickier bits.
A few pics of my work in progress. Ill post up some better photos when the job is finished.
Oh and to the haters, I know my car isn't a 507 but I don't care what you think

Why would you do that. Your car isn't a 507. It's like putting BS badges on IMO...
Why not make the stripe different. Why make it identical. Not hating, just don't get it...

I did mine back end of last year, with some help from a mate who did the cutting on a machine
I went matt black on mine, it picks up the light in the sun, and just visible normally, but then I wanted it a bit more subtle.
Like you said madness for the genuine ones.

It's nothing like putting BS badges on the car. As it stands my car is actually faster than a 507. I did it because I like the look and for $10 why shouldn't I ?

I thought there might be interest in these.......as well as the few that totally disagree
I will have a chat with our graphics department at work next week to see if they can do a full map and get some sets cut. If they are willing to do this I have no idea of cost but all it would be is the cost of the vinyl, the vinyl cutting as he would have to do it in his own time plus postage.
I am not interested in making anything from this so I'm guessing no more than $20-$25 per set posted.

I think you did a fantastic job to customize your car. I actually like the stripes and would consider them on my 2010 C63 Regular edition. Please send your hate mail and flaming to 555 Idontgiveafu** lane, yourmomsville 69690.
Mercedes had to justify the $90K C class so they thought some stickers, two hood nostrils, and black plastic mirrors will make it sell...they were right.
If placing acceleration stripes makes you be a 507 "poser" (which I don't know why anyone would really STRIVE to be a 507 per se, it loos almost exactly like any other C63) then we are all guilty of looking like one and posing. Many of us have the single fin grill, CF mirrors, similar wheels, hood vents, etc...
The 507 is just a c63 wearing a bow tie...get over it

If I made stripes, I wouldn't replicate the 507 one exactly. Didn't think it was particularly attractive, that's all. With a bit of effort it could surely look better. Was just asking a question, chill.
