You are the man!!! Please us know- I'm also going to do the diff cooling to my 507 here soon. Do you know if I order the parts through that website or ? I tried the site, but it did not recognize the part numbers.

Edition 507 - I love your list of mods - purpose driven and functional. Looks great! What is up with the color code - does gray vs red and purple have a meaning?
Yes, I bought the diff cover and cooling fins from oediscountparts.com Just type the part number without the A and without spaces. It will come right up.

From Tracy at oediscountparts.com, here is exactly what has to be ordered:
Use the P/Ns as below without the alpha prefix & do not use spaces.
1713510108
000000001536 (x2)
2043510608
The cover comes from Germany and takes 7 days to get FYI.

Thank you buddy- got bored and decided to do a sig with my mods. I need to upgrade brakes as my main next mod to the car. Carbon Ceramic has caught my interest since it naturally keeps cooler. What your thoughts- or would 2 piece rotors with racing pads with stock calipers a better alternative.

I looked into Carbon Ceramic also, but moved away from it because the value for money is simply not there. CC brakes also wear and do not live so much longer as to justify the cost.
Therefore, you will not see many carbon brakes on race tracks. Some folks even change their cars back to steel for tracking, even when they were delivered with CC brakes.
The way to go is to go to 2 piece steel rotors with replaceable rotor rings (i.e. you keep the center, the hat, and only replace the ring). That is most cost effective over time.
After a lot of research I did go to RacingBrake's big brake upgrade that converts our brakes to Black Series dimensions. That upgrade improved stopping power immensely - I still love it. See here for details:

Thank you- as two piece rotors was the only thing I could think of and didn't know ring could be replaced (very good to know)
Are you tracking the car with 18" wheel with the upgraded brakes from RacingBrake?

Yes there is a reason P-car guys replace their CCBs by steels. As Wobble mentioned it doesn't last long and are expensive to replace ($20k)!!

Edition 507: I have the big brake upgrade from RacingBrake with 390mm front rotors. That needs 19 inch rims. In winter I put the stock rotors back on and drive 18 inch winter wheels. Tire change becomes wheel and front rotor change.

I assumed with an 18" wheel the upgraded big brakes from RB wouldn't be able to clear. I like the 18" wheels due to the tire selections available.

I'm glad i came across this thread...
Just went out and checked and my car was equipped with this passive diff cooler. A former ADA car, this may have been standard practice to install, if it wasn't from the factory...enhanced cooling package up front as well. As a newbie, I am finding this forum very helpful. Thanks to all for their insight.
Now all I have to do, is find a track this summer and have some real fun.

I stopped by the Mercedes dealer to get a good look at the new AMG C63S just for fun. I looked under the car and noticed that it had cooling fins on the differential cover, it looks like the one in this thread. I also noticed that the C63S and GTS had the front engine oil cooler laid flat like our cars with the 44O Cooling Package. These improvements are important enough to have made it standard in the current production cars. The finned differential cover and rectifier are definitely going on my car as it sees track time. I would like to have the BS cover that accepts a temperature sensor, but having to seal off the other holes for the cooling lines would be problematic. I can check the diff temps trackside with a laser temperature gun if needed, but it would be cool to have a temp gauge and warning light in the car so you know when the diff is getting too hot.

Just wanted to bump this thread. OEDiscountParts.com has *THREE* of these in stock now, and there are more in Germany also (although they take longer to get).
Wanted to give you guys a heads-up because they're hard to find and go quickly. These have been on backorder since May. Happy shopping.
