Looking to buy a 2014 C63. Need Extended Warranty advice.
Hi everyone,
First time poster here and needed some advice. Looking to purchase a used 2014 C63 it has about 7600 miles on it with about 31 months/40,000 miles left of factory warranty.
The dealer I'm buying from offers a warranty from First Automative (has anyone used them?) for $4000 for 5 years / 100,000 miles starting from time of purchase.
Trying to figure out if I should purchase the additional warranty. Also is it possible to buy those 3 or 4 year service plan deals from MB for a used car?
Any other advice of purchasing this used car would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I was just quoted $4400/60k miles from my dealership on Friday. $4000 seems worth it for peace of mind.
However, if your car is still under factory warranty, you should hold off the search until a month or two before it expires.
I have never used First Automotive.

The only reason I want to pick up something now is that I'm assuming the price will go up as I get closer to the end of my warranty...

I'd recommend getting the MB warranty. You can get it as long as you still have factory warranty remaining.

only warranties that i have heard good things about (in no particular order)
1. OEM (MB) - won't be cheap, caps at 2 or 3 years
2. Route 66 - don't cover any AMGs
3. Fidelity - only good/decent one that honors c63
4. MaxCare - only through CarMax
I bought Fidelity, $4k/5 year/60k miles. shop around a month or two (or 1-2k miles) before it expires

You might want to also look at what your insurance company offers. I know with Geico, they offered Mechanical Breakdown Insurance which is basically an extended warranty for dirt cheap (like $30-60/half year). Mechanical though and not electrical which is the catch, but hopefully by the time your extended kicks in, you'll have resolved your electrical gremlins on standard warranty and you're mainly dealing with mechanical.

I think Mercury also offers something similar.
Edit: sorry, just noticed you said this was a used purchase. I believe MBI only applies to new vehicles. Want to leave this info up though for others who might be considering.

USAA quoted me at ~$2400 for their 3 year warranty but they, unfortunately, won't cover cars that have certain mods like headers, which I have.

I was quoted $4500 by a MB dealer in Scottsdale, AZ, last week, for 2 additional years and unlimited miles. My car still has factory warranty left, and I was told that as long as I come in before that expires, that quoted pricing won't change.

ELW advice
Prices on ELWs from Mercedes-Benz USA didn't jump up this year. With that said, only the original owner can purchase it from MB. It's important to talk to the repair facility that will work in the AMG. I meet customers weekly who paid good money on a policy that we won't honor. Only an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer has the tools and factory trained technicians to care for an AMG. Talk to somebody at a dealer near you. And no, it won't be cheap. But, neither is the Benz.

I wonder if that's a regional thing?

no, i'm about 6k over warranty (56k) and every issue i've been able to resolve myself up to this point. surprising reliable car, esp if you enjoy troubleshooting, but it's still too early to tell.

I wasn't the original owner and I got and used an ELW on two different AMG's. I was, however, still within the factory warranty period.

I don't think that's true though, I had a dealer quote me $6450 for 7yr/75k. I gave him all the info and he didn't mention anything stating that it had to be the original owner. They just need to make sure that it wasn't resold through a MB dealership. Also, you need to make sure that it has factory warranty left.
I was told last September by a frequently used MB warranty sales person on this forum who is at a dealer that amg elw prices skyrocketed I was quoted somewhere between 6-7k can't remember specified number but had I got the car two weeks earlier it was half that
So I got the warranty the used car palace sold which is easycare and it's been great so far and was less than half what the MB elw would be
I've also heard good things about fidelity

On the flip side of this mine is under 40k miles and just had a lot of electrical work done and the repair would have cost more than my warranty did. It's all a crapshoot
