Stick with 20's or go to 19's?

Bridgestone RE-760's were ordered, as well as new TPMS sensors for the CF-10's. The reason I didn't go with the Michelin PSS is because the car came with them, and I wasn't that impressed. The way people talk them up I thought I was going to be blown away, which I wasn't. I like the S-04's that are on my 335, so I decided to stick with Bridgestone, as I couldn't justify the additional coin for the PSS.

forgestars are ...eh ...they crack a lot if you beat on them from what ive read due to their load rating ..when i ordered my forgestars it took 6months+ and i just canceled and ended up buying 20s instead of 19s lol

I have almost 20k miles on my F14's that are on the 335 and have had zero issues. They're good wheels with a finish that's exponentially better than HRE, IMO.
Nothing against HRE, but the quality of the matte finish leaves something to be desired.

I bought a set of almost new satin black HRE P44SC last year & the finish was amazing like my other 3 sets of HRE which are brushed w/tinted clear.
The reason why u are disappointed with ur HRE is most likely due to them being used & abused.

I'm not quite sure how you would "abuse" the finish on the wheels, unless you've cleaned them with a wire brush. Even with not washing, you'd just end up with brake dust embedded in the finish, which mine do not have. The car has been garage kept all of it's life, and under an indoor garage cover the last 12,000 miles with the previous owner. Judging from the condition of the paint on my car, it's been well cared for. Unless of course Indy car drivers never clean their cars...
But, if you do a simple google search of "HRE wheels peeling", you'll find dozens of forum threads...and some from here, of customers with finish issues. I can't say I've ever ran across a properly powdercoated wheel peeling...
I've been happy with my Forgestars, even if they're snubbed at by others.

Weren't u the ones posting a thread looking for the previous owners of ur car before purchasing? And realized it changed hands more than once?
Well yes wheels can get scratches regardless of the brands.. All I'm saying is u didn't buy new & cry about HRE finishes. Lol

The owner of the shop that I go to and lead tech even commented on the poor finish of the wheels, which they both referred to as a "defect". The lead tech inspected them and asked if it was a painted finish, to which he laughed at. I'm not talking about scratches or scuffs, I'm talking about a poor coating, which you can generally tell apart from owner inflicted damage.

What are the offsets and widths?

Yes. The car was owned by Tony Kanaan, Marco Andretti, the previous owner, and now myself.

But that's not my point, what I'm saying is unless u bought the wheels (or even the car) new & took care of them urself, u can't come here & bash a reputable company based on the condition u bought the used item in. The owner of ur shop who commented on the "defective" finish has never seen the wheel out of the box I bet.
And yes matte or semi-gloss (satin) wheels are extremely difficult to take care of, better go with a glossy clear coat protection.

My point is, the wheels are 7 years old and the two guys at the shop that looked at them have a combined 30+ years of "speed shop" experience. They both commented on how poor the finish is, and they regularly see 10-20 year old wheels.
Nothing against anyone who owns HRE wheels, but it is what it is.

I just re-read ur first thread about searching for ur car history, seems like u mentionned being the 4th owner & not 3rd.. And u had no clue why the KW's was swapped for Bilstein.. Strange... It says a lot about ur immaculate car. Lol

You can be an HRE fanboy all you want bud, no one is faulting you for that, but you don't have to continue replying. I'll keep enjoying my 31,000 mile 2009 with terrible Forgestars

Kanaan messaged me back stating that he didn't know what Marco had done to the car while he owned it. It originally had KW coilovers on it, as posted by WB when they did the work for TK. Are you just dense or do you just not read? Read post #34 where I listed the owners.

I honestly don't care about ur car & wheels history, but we both know bashing a company based on a 7 years old wheel is pointless.

Enjoy ur Forgestar, just hope u didn't get matte black :P

Questioning the quality of the finish = bashing the company
Got it.
I did go with matte black. I'm not terribly worried, as my current Forgestars are a year old with zero issues. I can always finish them in any color I want for a reasonable price as well. I mean, it's no HRE finish, but it'll do

I have satin finish on my CF10s. Would not do it again as the satin had no life and became flat pretty quickly. I have just put on a replacment CF10 (tokk much longer than it should have) and the gloss difference is amazing compared to the old ones which were sealed and are cleaned regularly. if I was starting again I would go gloss black from Forgestar. If getting your own coating done you can probably get a better quality finish in whatever shade you want.

I also sold my satin black P44SC shortly after for that exact reason.. I can't imagine having a matte black car, it would be such a pain to maintain. Lol

Good to know. I plan on sealing them with Menzerna Powerlock which should put a slight gloss on the finish. If they need refinished, no biggie, as I can do it for ~$400 through a local guy who does excellent work.
