Possible leaking fuel tank?
One morning I go to my c63 and the garage smells like gas. Don't think much of it at first but the smell stayed. Took it to the mechanic, took off the back seats and noticed a puddle of fuel above the driver's side sending fuel unit.
The mechanic replaced the whole fuel sending unit and after driving it for a few hours i took off the seats again to check. This time it was completely dry which is good. Problem is, the gas smell is still noticeable. It is definately less then what it was before we fixed the FSU but it is still noticeable when you get in the vehicle.
My question is, since I had a full tank when the mechanic was replacing the FSU did he just spill some gas on the bottom which made it smell like gas or do I have a leaking fuel tank.
One more obesrvation is that it smells like gas right above the driver's rear wheel. If i put my nose like 1 inch away on top of the rear left wheel I can smell the fumes. Either way I opened all my windows and will let the car sit in the garage. If the smell is still there tomorrow will take it to the mechanic.

I think it could just be the remanence of the previously spilt fuel.
Fuel has a lingering type of smell about it. Hard to get rid of.
Try using some odour neutralising spray of sorts (like Glen 20 maybe) or maybe research on the net some natural ways (maybe lemon spray or something?)
Also, try get under the car on a hoist, or ramps at least and see if you can high pressure hose around there.

Thanks for the reply, the smell seems a lot better now and can barely smell it inside and outside. will give it a few more days and will also take it to the carwash today.

Well after getting the fuel sending unit replaced i couldn't fill up the car with gas all the way. When I went to 5 different gas stations and tried to pump gas the pump kept on clicking as if the tank was full. That leads me to believe that the fuel tank / fuel neck is bad. Getting that replaced.
While i'm at it i decided to get an ecu tune by kleemann and get some MHB long tube headers. Atleast I will get my c63 back faster than before.

USUALLY, when a fuel venting system gets plugged, it is because the fuel tank has been overfilled by going past the "stop click" when filling, OR because the gas cap itself needs to simply be replaced.

You can do it with a Garmin GPS and their BC30 backup camera. The input changes anytime power is applied to the camera. Maybe not what you are looking for but it is doable. We installed the Garmin and BC30 in my wifes 2013 GLK350
