stumbled across this video from a track day at Lime Rock on November 16, 2013. There is a C63 in there, who is not making friends.

I am wondering what kind of reputation we Mercedes drivers have among other sports car drivers. I will certainly be conscious of that next weekend at Mid-Ohio.
Here is another funny one that could apply....

Some people get out on the track with next to no instruction on how to maintain situation awareness. I have gotten complaints from other drivers because I didn't give them a point by until we were at the designated passing straights... Looks like this guy had not a scrap of awareness of the Porsche filling up his rearview mirror. They should have flagged him with a pass flag....

Ya that blows. When that has happened to me in the past I usually just go into the pit - lets the car cool off for a second too. Then they let me in where the biggest gap is so i can actually enjoy my session.

Don't let random bad drivers like that deter you buddy. It is an absolute blast to drive these cars out on the track. It is the perfect environment to exploit the C63's true potential.

The track days I have been on were all a blast. Friendly people, lots to learn, camaraderie. All enthusiasts, who simply enjoy what they do, and it shows all day as well as in the evening, if there is a social event.
This run group seemed to be very diverse with some bad *** cars. And the C63 driver still has a lot to learn. I guess, he got feedback and has already learned by now.

That C63 driver seemed like what we in the motorcycle track world would call a "squid"
I did a track day on the C63 recently. Or I should say, attempted to. It is the same track where I run with my superbikes (RSV4 and 848). Driving it in the car felt like the most boring **** ever. I only did two sessions and then promptly put the car away and got back on the bikes. The thing I found most annoying was having to be signaled by the guy ahead of you that it was OK to pass. I ended up waiting behind slow cars ahead of me to consciously let me pass. Takes all the fun out of being on the track. And doing 110 mph in a car on the straight where you are used to doing 155 on a bike made it feel very tame too.

Probably did the point by as he went into limp mode...

Point-bys are not always required, it depends on the rules of the specific run group. Advanced groups usually have free passing. In this video I assume point-bys were agreed, but since they were not given, several cars passed the C63 anyway.
At the end, the C63 driver does not give a point-by, but the pit signal. He is turning into the pit lane.

Ouch... that was just painful to watch and outright dangeous for the participants. Kudos to the in-car camera guy in the Porsche who unlike some of the other drivers decided to respect the rules and not overtake until signalled (yeah, the signal was the wrong one too - the closed fist means "I am pitting" - but seeing as it was the only one given, it's a reflection of the MB driver's skill level). That Merc driver has no business being there in that group - not because of how fast or slow he is but rather that he seems completely unaware of what's going on around him.
With any of the groups that I go lapping with, he would have never been allowed to drive on his own in the first place, and would have been black-flagged within half a lap. And, the sheer number of cars on the track and the relative difference in driver skill and speeds between them makes the little hairs on the back of my neck stand out. That particular event is an accident waiting to happen.

Diabolis,
spot on. I also was surprised by the diversity of driver skills, density of traffic and absence of an instructor. I am glad I was not in that run group. Only upside of that much traffic is it would have been easier on tires, brakes and gas - but that is not why we go there.

I am heading to Sonoma for a track day Monday October 9th. I have aftermarket rotors and full track pads as well as Motul SRF fluid. Should be a great day and I will post a video or two once done.
