APR GT-250 wing

Hello,

I am looking in adding a wing APR GT-250 to the car. I would like to know if anyone know the height it needs to go and/or if there are any other options for the 2010 Mercedes C63 AMG. Thank you.

If you are going to put a GT wing on your car, make sure it's a good shape, wide mounted and about as tall as the roof line.

APR has always looked bad to me.

If your going to do it, go with Varis (Euro spec)

Just get the BS wing by modecarbon - https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...rack-wing.html. Please though don't get a ricer wing or you will be shot...I can almost promise it .

The ricer wing term is in the past. There are so many great looking circuit/street cars running massive GT wings nowadays that it does itself justice.

OE Black Series style wing looks so feeble, although functional.

With how wide the Black series fenders are, I personally think a GT wing should match
the width and height of how aggressive the car looks to begin with.

I agree that wings can be functional and look good, just like this GTR one. But there are very few actual wings for the C63, and 99% of them look like crap. I would suggest just sticking to the carbon fiber spoiler Jonathan Topham.

Wings are not always the best choice though -

Yes, I agree.

The Voltex Racing C63 wing that HIRO63 had was a bit off. I think the dual foil type works with very aggressive GT styled cars (canards, splitters, wide fenders etc) I know he got a lot of heat for that back in the day.

Varis GT wing is perfect in my opinion, They we're the main reason that GT wings we're crazy popular in the euro market with the E9X M3's etc.

But you can't just slap on those on the car and expect it to look good. I think Varis would be perfect on a Black Series C63, or a normal C63 with aggressive wide fenders, etc.

For Jonathan, INSIGNIA is right. A small trunk / lip spoiler would be the best option.

I understand the wing may not look "good" to some of the users, but I am here to get the feedback from more "experienced" users, that I appreciate.

I want to go with not as an aggressive wing as HIRO63, and with this post I am looking if anyone has already mounted a wing or if someone knows the different types that can be mounted in the car, because as INSIGNIA mentions the variety is not much and some look bad.

I had already checked the BS wing by modecarbon, but that is a bit "small" for what I am looking for and in regards to the Varis GT, it looks good, but can someone detail the item number please. Thank you.

LOL experienced?

I've mounted like 20 GT Wing's in the past including Voltex, Varis, Sard, etc.
You can get any wing to fit. Basically see how wide you want the end posts to be and see how tall you want it to be. Any experienced body shop can undo the screws/rivets and relocate the hardware to your liking.

The best option for you is Varis, they already did all the homework on the width and height. They make 2 types, carbon with frp stands and all carbon. Most wing dimensions are in (mm)

For the Euro spec 1430mm width:

Carbon - FRP VGW03-143HB1-C

All Carbon - VGW03-143HB1-AC

You will need B1 type stands - 290mm High

If you own a sedan, the width of the trunk for a GT wing is approx. 50' inches / 1270mm.

If you look at Hiro63's wing, He is running a Voltex Type V? - 1500mm width.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...g-gt-wing.html

Notice the wing stand bases, they are very close to the end of trunk. The stands on these 2 brands are very similar. So with a 1430mm euro spec, it will be a perfect match.

I guess I'm not "experienced" enough to answer this.

If you have information you would like to share I would appreciate it. Thank you.

The advantage of the APR wings is that they actually post real aerodynamic information. With proper mounting location to get clean air they give you downforce and drag based on what angle of attack and what they are at different mph. I'd have a hard time dropping 1k$+ on a wing with no evidence of functionality.

Considering the car isnt a lift back, and the trunk is so short you're probably going to need big risers so the wing is at nearly the same height of the roof if not higher for proper functionality. Keep in mind the true working surface of the wing is actually the bottom hence the recent use of the goose neck mounts - like koenigsegg uses and others are venturing into.

While im not dismissing the functionality of the black series wing, Im sure it's functionality was sacrificed quite alot to trade off for a compromise of style since a lot of people wouldn't buy it if it had a giant wing on it. functional or not. Not to mention depending on design they can kill mpg's and top speeds - all in the name of handling depending on how aggressive. Im sure there are also crash safety concerns with a massive wing too.

That Renntech license plate wing looks great from certain angles, but I saw one in person and it was terrible. I guess it's a nice option for taking on and off to go to the track, but I don't know about driving around with it every day...

I think it looks hideous. Sorry for being so direct/harsh, but huge wings are iffy even on full on sports cars. On a 4 door c-class, they look very much like a glued on part common among the civic kids.

You sound so out dated when you say "civic kids" or "ricer"...

I've never owned one and everyone's opinion is appreciated but try to be a little more intelligent when you say these things.

Anyway, Renntech was off doing something weird when they were designing aftermarket aero, fenders and etc for the W204 C63.

The mounting on the actual license plate frame is unique but the whole design of the wing and mounting stands are outdated and looks off on the W204.

You could possible buy a generic carbon wing (1500mm+ width)
and water jet yourself some custom stands that mount the same way. I always thought wide posting on the trunk looked good but when mounting on the back of the trunk it can only look good one way.

I never said ricer, you must not be very good at reading.

The civic tuning crowd is alive and well, not sure why you think it is out dated.
