KW V3 - stuck perch
Hi All,
Recently installed kw v3s on my C63. Compared to the super stiff p30 suspension, they feel awesome. At stock settings, they are comfortable but yet perform the same if not better than stock suspension.
The other day I thought I try adjusting the ride height in the front. I didn't realize until after a few turns that there was a set screw that secures the perch from moving. I'm afraid I've damaged the threads on the strut because I can only go half a turn before the perch gets stuck.
Contacted kw and a technical advisor said that it's unlikely that the set screw would damage the strut threads, but there is nothing else we can think of that would cause the perch to get stuck. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks

The threads might be a bit bent from the set screw not being loosen. Or you could have some dirt in the threads that prevents you from moving it around. If one way up or down is stuck, have you tried the other way to see what is going on with the threads. Some times taking the weight of the shocks may help move the collar.

Yea, I'm afraid the threads are damaged, but hoping it's something else like dirt or a lubrication issue. I have tried adjusting the perch both ways, only get about half a turn. Other than adjusting the perch when car is jacked from the ground, only other way to take load off from the shock is removing it and compressing the spring?

Jack the car up so the tires are off the ground to see if it is any easier to make the adjustment with the load off the shocks. The set screw should only have damaged either the up side or down side of the threads. So it doesn't make sense why both up and down adjustment would be a problem. I would take it in to see a mechanic if you can't get this resolved. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, I have tried adjusting the perch with the tires off the ground. Why do you say if the set screw damaged the threads that it would only affect one direction?
