X-pipe vs H-pipe in place of resonators ... sound, drone etc.
So I've been watching vids and reading up on swapping the resonator out and replacing with Xpipe vs Hpipe and deleting the secondaries with straight pipes.
Does the Hpipe provide any benefit over an Xpipe when deleting the resonators? Most say getting rid of the resonator will create rasp, but the Hpipe vids I've seen with deleted secondaries sound great.
Anybody have deleted secondaries and deleted resonator with an Hpipe in its place that can comment? Sound difference between X and H, power changes, drone etc.
Thanks for any tips/feedback...

So I actually just deleted my resonator a couple of days ago and put an H pipe in place.
I can report that there's no drone but the car is still so quiet in my opinion. Maybe I'm showing my age (23) but I want a bit more volume out of this very capable 6.2L... I'll be heading back to the muffler shop on Monday to remove secondaries as well which I'll replace with straight pipe.

I have secondaries and resonator removed and replaced with 3" pipe from the primary cats back to the mufflers... And an H pipe... Good sound only louder...slight power increase although in my opinion it needs even more volume..,
No drone or resonance
No drone or resonance

Could you please post a cold start and driving video?
So if I'm understanding it correctly, you deleted the secondaries and straight piped and deleted the resonator and put an Hpipe in place of the resonator, correct?
If so, I'd LOVE to hear how she sounds as I feel the H pipe makes the car deeper while increasing volume coupled with the deleted secondaries.
THANK YOU SIR!
Also, noob question, is Mike's pipe just an H pipe in place of resonator? Thanks again guys.

Mike's midpipes are straight pipes for the secondary cats & your choice of a straight or H-pipe for the resonator.
Here is IMHO the best clip for secondary cat delete & H-pipe in place of the resonator.

With long tubes, the car would be insanely loud I'm assuming... ?
Thanks!

Might be a dumb question, but I cant find it anywhere. Where do you buy the Mikes pipes from? Every search just takes me to either thread posts or the MBH website. and I cant find them on their site.

I am leaning toward straight pipe for 2nd cat's / h pipe for the resonator. I just want to get the details on what others have done (dimensions / location)

I just ordered stuff from Mike and his H-Pipe or straight pipe replaces the secondary cat. He also has straight pipes available to delete the OEM resonator. To my knowledge the H-Pipe from Mike does not replace the resonator.

I think mikes setup is different than what he/others did. Mikes h-pipe just replaces the secondary cats. With this setup you replace resonators with h pipe and straight pipe the secondary cats.

What size of H pipe did you use? Also did you place the H exactly in the middle where the resonator was or closer to the engine?

I put the H-pipe exactly where the resonator came off.

I did secondary delete and resonators delete. I first had an xpipe then went to hpipe. I noticed a better sound right away and slightly less drone.

I did eurocharged x pipe resonator replacement, car sounds a bit more ferrari but still has the signature AMG V8 growl with very prominent cracks and bangs. primary and secondary cats left alone. very happy!

Any of you guys not go the Mike's PP route and just have someone cut out resonators and replace/weld with nice SS straight pipe?

I will get you some clips posted hopefully tomorrow...
but....
**l have secondary cats deleted
**resonator left IN PLACE
**rear mufflers removed(yup)
and the sound is AMAZING!!! In all honesty I have run with and without the cats, with and without the resonator, with and x pipe and with and without the rear mufflers and to be honest it is the RESONATOR that gives you that killer AMG sound....deleting the cats and the rear mufflers cost me less than $150, new tips were $100 and I wouldn't trade it for any other system no matter the cost....now I guess I've got to get some cold start ups, revs, pull from a dig and a fly by taken and posted tomorrow

No drone.....
Don't get me wrong, you CAN hear the exhaust inside the cabin, but you could before...its just a little louder now.....to me it is the perfect volume and the sound/pitch has not changed

you still have primaries though? with no cats you'd be triggering the O2 sensor CEL without a tune.
I don't even know how guys get drone, I'm straight piped right through with no 1st/2nd cats / no res and theres no drone
if you guys want more nose in the cabin put the rear seats down it's easily twice as loud
