Serpentine belt shredded

Apparently one of my pulleys seized up, and the belt exploded...
$760 at the dealer. I could have done it myself, except it was pouring rain, and I was trying to get to work, and I am only home for a few days before I go back to traveling..

*sigh*.. oh and hey peeps.. been gone for a while lol.

Ive heard the plastic pulleys can break and cause this. My buddy who is MB AMG tech changed to metal pulleys on his C63 and his ML63 (winter car) cause he said it can avoid these issues.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year, alternator pully crappedout thankfully yours was pretty easy. Mine shredded some wires and caused the ecu to short

111k Honestly it is the first actual thing to break. I have had loose hose issues resulting in emission failures, and the usual recall stuff. So I cannot complain too much. But I suspect the repair costs are going to start mounting soon. I'm not sure if I want to go through the cost of replacing the buckets and head bolts. So I may be selling it soon (2016 Focus RS is on the list lol.. I know, huge change from a C63)

this happened to me 4 days ago in the rain. Heard the Alt guide pulley sueek then turn to a schreetch right before it went. Luckily put half the belt back on and made it the 1/4 mile home. New belt put on next morning before hernia surgery and guide pulley is waiting at the dealer when I can get there lol

Was that the original belt? Probably should have replaced it at 75K or so.

Good to hear you made it 111K with original headbolts too.

And how in the world u managed to put 111k miles on ur car when it spend most of the time parked at the airport? Glad to see ur car was built like a tank.

oh I hope your wiring harness didn't get damaged! I had to replace the ECU (which actually wasn't bad since OE Tuning is nearby and they re-flashed it for me)

I put most of the mileage on before I started this project.. so in Aug 2013 I had around 100k miles (I drove to and from Indy a few times)

As for the Focus in question.. see next post.. I have not made a decision yet, but it is actually pretty high on my list. I cannot afford another C63, and not sure if I want the CLA (not a big fan).

This is not a regular focus, not even sure I would be able to get one as there are limited numbers (I think 600 for 2016).

Around 350 HP, light hatchback, all wheel drive (think street legal Rally Car)
