Leave the bulb inside to serve as engine lights. That's what most have done. You can wrap the bulbs in electrical tape if you have the light shining through the cracks which is what others have done. If you really want to eliminate all lights though, you can just wiring in resistors to not trigger codes.

^^ spot on. I took leds and just broke the bulbs (press hard with screwdriver ). Car will read that a light is plugged in, no errrors, and you don't have to worry about light shining, burning tape, painting the bulb, etc.
