You should have been on this forum more often prior purchase.
I hope you get your car fixed or money returned. It sucks when you work your *** off and get robbed by some shady people!!

I guess you really only have 2 options:
1. Fight for your case against the dealership through the AG and hope to get back the 4K plus any other damages/expenses. It will definitely be a while. In the meantime you will still have to try and find a M156 motor and get it installed.
2. Sell the car for the best possible price. You will take a huge hit. Unfortunately, it will just be a very expensive learning experience.
Not sure if you paid full cash or financed. In case you financed, did you have any GAP insurance? Maybe that can cover for the loss that you will be taking. Not really sure if GAP insurance is even applicable here.
Will post this on the AMG private lounge forums and see if they have any suggestions.
Good luck!
based on what you have said your best bet might just be to take the dealer tradein value...you're taking a large hit but maybe they can work a deal on a used one on the lot for you.
Otherwise as someone said find a reputable place and a good deal on a used engine....but even then you might take a loss when it comes to re-selling later as the carfax would show an engine replacement

Pretty much the same comments as here. I think selling the car for the best possible price will be your best option.
Hopefully you can get back some money also from the dealership through your case.
I know it really sucks!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

The dealer quoting 33k is crazy
I doubt the block is destroyed
Take it elsewhere for a second opinion
If confirmed buy a used engine
Bankruptcy does not mean he walks away
Make a claim
He may have had to post a bond to cover contingencies that may arise after he is out of business
A court must approve his course of action
Can't just ignore obligations
Call the state agency that licenses dealers and make a complait
He may have other dealerships or try to open up shop again
In some states the warranty must be honored even if he does not forward payment
As long as you had good reason to believe he was actually their agent, ie, signs, printed material, contracts, etc
In some states a dealer who sells warranties must have a bond with the dept of insurance
Exactly for these type of things
Call them and find out
Get a lawyer
I never heard of one who would not help as long as you gave them a retainer and sgreed to pay them
I can't believe MB would have a dealer like this
Call, or better yet, write MB USA and explain the situation and see if they can help
This one has 54,000 miles on it, but you can try to make an offer for like $7,000 and maybe they'll accept. Might be a long shot to get it that low, but either way, they have the "Make Offer" button so that means they're willing to negotiate somewhat.
They also have another one with around 75,000 miles on it for a few hundred dollars less, but once again, you can try making an offer on it and see if they bite.

I was looking at these but what is the guarantee that these are good engines?
What if something else happens?
