^^Oh boy!! Looks like a car with headaches from the get go! How did you end up buying that particular one?
You should have been on this forum more often prior purchase.
I hope you get your car fixed or money returned. It sucks when you work your *** off and get robbed by some shady people!!

It was a low milage and the price was on point. Maybe i was wrong. Trying to sell the car wholesale now. running out of options.

You'll take a loss in all cases unless you manage to sue the dealer and win.

So sorry to hear. It's shocking to see what people can get away with!
I guess you really only have 2 options:
1. Fight for your case against the dealership through the AG and hope to get back the 4K plus any other damages/expenses. It will definitely be a while. In the meantime you will still have to try and find a M156 motor and get it installed.

2. Sell the car for the best possible price. You will take a huge hit. Unfortunately, it will just be a very expensive learning experience.

Not sure if you paid full cash or financed. In case you financed, did you have any GAP insurance? Maybe that can cover for the loss that you will be taking. Not really sure if GAP insurance is even applicable here.
Will post this on the AMG private lounge forums and see if they have any suggestions.
Good luck!

I think you did the right thing contacting the state AG, and that might help you get some money in damages but unfortunately even if you receive money back it won't help your current situation.

based on what you have said your best bet might just be to take the dealer tradein value...you're taking a large hit but maybe they can work a deal on a used one on the lot for you.
Otherwise as someone said find a reputable place and a good deal on a used engine....but even then you might take a loss when it comes to re-selling later as the carfax would show an engine replacement

Man, I hope you know we are all sympathetic to your situation and wish you were tearing up the pavement like we were.....hate to see anyone get just an unethical and raw deal

Well nothing much from the private lounge forum as well.
Pretty much the same comments as here. I think selling the car for the best possible price will be your best option.
Hopefully you can get back some money also from the dealership through your case.
I know it really sucks!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I would HATE to think that unloading the car was the best option...... You will take SUCH a bath on the loss that you would be hard pressed to recover. From where you are now, even if you figure on the high side at $8-10k for repair, you would still be $10k better than if you take the trade in hit.....PLUS you'd be in the car that you WANTED originally...if getting rid of the car was the way out then I would still do the engine and sell it or trade it after as a FUNCTIONAL vehicle....just my $0.02

Honestly, i don't mind spending $10k on the repair but i can't find an engine in that price range.

i thought of taking the deal on the trade in but they want me to pay for the services that they already did to the car. I mean WTF!

^I'd still look into it as a criminal act, as someone stated here before. They don't get off the hook for that and quite literally stole $4k from you on that warranty you were supposed to have.

A member on the private lounge forum posted this. Hope it helps!

The dealer quoting 33k is crazy
I doubt the block is destroyed
Take it elsewhere for a second opinion
If confirmed buy a used engine

Bankruptcy does not mean he walks away
Make a claim
He may have had to post a bond to cover contingencies that may arise after he is out of business
A court must approve his course of action
Can't just ignore obligations
Call the state agency that licenses dealers and make a complait
He may have other dealerships or try to open up shop again

In some states the warranty must be honored even if he does not forward payment
As long as you had good reason to believe he was actually their agent, ie, signs, printed material, contracts, etc

In some states a dealer who sells warranties must have a bond with the dept of insurance
Exactly for these type of things
Call them and find out

Get a lawyer
I never heard of one who would not help as long as you gave them a retainer and sgreed to pay them

I can't believe MB would have a dealer like this
Call, or better yet, write MB USA and explain the situation and see if they can help

This one has 54,000 miles on it, but you can try to make an offer for like $7,000 and maybe they'll accept. Might be a long shot to get it that low, but either way, they have the "Make Offer" button so that means they're willing to negotiate somewhat.

They also have another one with around 75,000 miles on it for a few hundred dollars less, but once again, you can try making an offer on it and see if they bite.

Thanks JP!
I was looking at these but what is the guarantee that these are good engines?
What if something else happens?

I can't personally vouch for these guys and I've honestly never had to deal with an issue like yours so I can only assume that the engines have been tested and they've got 99.7% feedback with over 3600 reviews on ebay. I'm sure if you contact them, they will tell you more about their 30 day warranty though.
