if the "2 AMG engines a day by one mech" is true....
imagine forking out 40% more for an engine built by one man even before he gets to his lucnch break. takes away the exclusivity.
EDIT: im more interested as to which category in this forum would it fall under...would it be on "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vehicles"?

for those guys upset, try NOT buying a MB and see what they do

IF AMG guys build 2 engines per day it would have taken them roughly 50 engine builders to get to that goal. Just saying.
I think we might start seeing more AMG cars with production engines soon :/

Just a rough estimate info that I remember from Private Lounge.

So do they work every day 365 days a week? plus overtime?
they aim for 70 000 AMG cars 2017.
It might be a reason why one man one engine thingie is starting to get really hard to keep up with.

makes me even more skeptical with the one man one engine thing. I remember seeing Clarkson on one of the episodes of top gear when he test drove the then new C63 w204, he said it sarcastically when he mentioned that AMG claims to have the engine handbuilt by one man per engine. loooooong pause after that then he rolled his eyes. not that it matters to me as I love my AMG.
anyway, whats the topic on this thread again?

You guys are being completely overly harsh and it's obvious you have never actually driven one.
The twin turbo V6 is most definitely an AMG motor and it blows away the older SC V6s which are far inferior. The GLE450 is as good if not better than the older ML63s and the performance them is astonishing for what many consider an AMG-lite.
It's a smart brilliant move and it reduces confusion. Now people have two AMG models to choose from in any lineup and I love how they brought back the 43 moniker, very cool.

But it isn't an amg by what most enthusiasts and amg themselves associate an amg with ... Starting with the engine which built by Mercedes not amg which goes against one man one engine philosophy

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
It's entirely possible that amg will come out with their revised statement on their company goals and so called mission statement for 2017+
Meaning, one man one engine could be over in 2017+
There have been many many changes in the Benz amg Corp lately and it just seems like they haven't dialed in yet their final new position, but they are coming close
Member cliffjumper said it perfectly, they just need to make ALL Benz models official Amg and be done with it

Edit: Forgot to mention. At 8:33 proof all the head bolts are tightened by a machine at the same time. It's also the male head bolt design lol.

To say that a motor not built in Affalterbach though is not correct. Otherwise you will need to tell anyone with an M133 that they don't have an AMG motor.

While yes the new M276 turbo v6 is not a true AMG motor it is tuned in Affalterbach. Additionally the trams suspension and brakes are also "massaged" by AMG.

Th new twin turbo V6 makes more than the old 5.5L NA m113 V8 did and those were technically mildly tuned benze motors that were not exclusively AMG motors.
AMG is defined by its level of performance... Not necessarily where it originated from... It always has been this way.

AMG was independent from Mercedes before it was bought out (again). Now that Mercedes owns the name, they can slap the badge on any production car they prefer. and theres NOT a thing any of you can do about it.
im not pro or against this move but i dont really care. i have an AMG and I know what my car is capable of. i couldnt care less if the next driver on the street looks at my car and think,"is that a real AMG or not?" coz of this decision by Mercedes. I didnt buy my car to please them.

Your statement is pretty incorrect.
