507 SEDAN
Canadian car to US
So,
Has anyone purchased a vehicle in Canada and brought it back to the US, and registered and titled it? I have the opportunity to purchase a CN 507 sedan. Just researching now what it takes to bring a vehicle into the country.
Any thoughts or experience?

American dealers are buying up every vehicle that is worth selling from Canadian dealers (who are buying back from people they sold to).
On the flip side, cars have gone up 30% (relative to last year) for Canadians looking to buy from the USA
Used cars are still cheaper in the US (versus Canada) because of so much more inventory, but with the exchange rate there is no cost saving buying from the USA

That is how I read it.
FWIW, BEFORE taxes you could pick up the same 2015 507 for an equivalent of $56-57k usd new.
Not sure how warrantees will be managed on new vehicles.
I bought my Subaru STi from the USA and saved a TON, but for warranty I had to pay for the repairs myself, and would be reimbursed by SOA after submitting my claim. I have not had issues yet, but am not worried about covering costs until being reimbursed.
Some manufacturers have other rules that differ from company to company.

You can use broker/transporters where you pay a package including fees + customs. I don't recall if it was 2.5% or 6%.

This link is very helpful, they have Canadian-specific info: http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/
Seems that consulting a Registered Importer would be wise, they may tell you right away if a certain model will make it past the hurdles painlessly. Looks like a compliance sticker on the car and letter from the manufacturer will be required. If you want to import first, a bond of 150% declared value will be held until you prove compliance.
