front brakes
hey guys I am getting ready to change my front brake pads this Sunday and the job is overall very cut and dry(unbolt sensor, remove 2 sliding pins and pull and replace)my question is when compressing the pistons in the caliper back together what is the easiest and safest way to do this without removing the caliper. Also whats the safest way to remove the old pad sensor from the pad?

Use your hands
Should just slide out by hand, otherwise gently with a screwdriver

agree on using hands to push in pistons. However, my experience with prying the wear sensor out of the old pads is not good - 2 out of 3 times they crumble and break. They are only 10-15$ though, not a big deal.

Never been able to push Pistons in by hand, I always use a C clamp again the old pad or a screw type compressor for pushing in Pistons.
Slowly and easily pry the sensor with a screw driver.

Never any need to remove the caliper if just changing pads. Use your pads to compress the pistons so that you can easily move all at once. I wedge the blade of a flathead screwdriver between the rotor and the backing plate on the pad and then just twist it, forcing the two apart.

I just got a S63 AMG 2012 3weeks ago, Mercedes dealer informed me that rear brakes at 60 %, front brakes at 50 %, we made the deal, couple of days ago I dropped the car off for some noise check, and they informed me that the rear brakes 40 % and the front at 80%, I contacted them cause they should've replaced the rear ones before even selling it, the car been on the road 6 times only since I bought, cause I'm using another car.
Does anyone knows whats the minimum brake requirement to change, and whether should the dealership be responsible for that

Yes, but only when it’s dark outside

E220 AMG W212
On the subject of Discs (Rotor) I was told, at a recent service, that my discs were under the minimum thickness. They looked fine to me so I asked why. The disc on my E220 is 32mm thick when new (that's an inch and a quarter!). Mercedes class the disc as worn out when it gets down to 30mm! I questioned how 1mm off each side made them unsafe and was then told my pads looked like they had been changed recently so I could leave until the next service. I changed them my self with new Pads and Rotors on the front and took the time to paint the calipers while they were off.

They try it everywhere, right? Same happened to me. Once in a while a poor soul falls for that, I believe.

These dealerships always try to extort money out of you, about raising your fears about the car needing pads or a full brake job.
