sounds like a great mod to me - especially since I have seen how much less the Carbotechs wear on the Z. Keeping them cooler makes a huge difference.

So..... some good news and bad news. First of all, the Dunlops worked great at VIR. Great tires when brand new and inflated properly. Massive grip, great cornering. Tread got a little squirmy when real hot, but overall an improvement.

These tires seem to be pretty tricky to get the right pressures. And the sidewalk is soft - Mazspeed you were right man. The sweet spot is within a couple psi of 40 hot - on one side of it youre running with under inflated tires and somethings going to give. I think I totally cooked my fronts at NJMP a few weeks ago. Rolled the sidewalls in front horribly, took some big strips/chunks out of the center tread, and the tires never recovered. Ran about 32psi cold to start on a scorching hot day, and it was just too low. Actually pretty dangerous if you've never done it, you lose all feeling for hard cornering in front and the car was just all over the place.

Good news is..... GO BIG OR GO HOME. So I have on order PSC2 in 255F/295R. If this little project has shown me anything, it's that you can make just about anything fit with a little effort and creativity. So it looks like I'm going the full wide metal rear fender route like Mag1cCarpet just did. Car's in the shop now, tires get delivered next week, then the fenders will be matched to the tires.

Any reason why you didn't go wider in the rear, given that you're going the full metal rear fender route too?

I guess it's because you're running a 19x10, and a 295 is probably as big as you want to go before you get sidewall flex?

Personally, if you can afford it, I would get some wider wheels too. You're already doing the widebody, why not make it the perfect fit? Just my opinion.

Exactly, it's because of my 10" wide rear rims. 295 is about as big as I can go.

Good point. We'll fit the 295's on with a 20mm spacer just in case I do 305's down the road. Thanks for the reminder.

Impressive! You're going to stick like glue to the track. And the stance is going to be sick.

Thanks man! The best part is that Harry didn't have to add any metal. That right there is all stretch (many many hours of it). He got more likes on that photo than anything they've ever posted - C63s are practically lining up at his shop to get this done. I'm really thrilled with it and am going to try to head down there one night this week to get a look. The BS rear fender liners are en route and should be there by the weekend.

So close to being done, just have to trim the rear fender liners and re-check clearance in front. Harry did an amazing job. It's literally perfect IMO.

Looks great from front and back! I'd love to see some close up pics after it's done. Did you notice any issues with paint cracking?

Thanks! Last couple of pics for now. The rear quarters had to be repainted. They were stripped down to metal to do this. The fenders were reworked quite a bit. I can fit an 11" rim on the back now if I wanted, but a 305 would be pushing it. 295 is all I need.

The view from straight back is amazing. Also getting the rear quarters wrapped in Xpel because they're going to get peppered to death if I don't and I want to preserve the new paint as much as I can.

Looks great! How much wider is it for you?

What size spacer did you throw on to match with the 295s for the fenders? 20MM?

XPel the Front Bumper/Mirorrs/Fender/Rear Quarters, that way you protect the car from rock-chips.

I'd even look into your headlights too, those get peppered on the track.

It's stretched a bit over 1" on each side. No spacer on the rears, the fronts currently have a 20mm but I have clearance issues to the front fenders now. Going to have to remove that spacer and trim the inner fender liners. Shame because it's dead flush all around as it sits now, but those aluminum front fenders don't take kindly to any rolling or bending of that lip.

Definitely going to get the Xpel done this week on those rear quarters Have to get the nose end of the car repainted soon at some point also, and will Xpel that too.

To late for the headlights, they're pretty chipped dinged and cracked. I gave them a good sanding and polish a month ago, but they're not by any means in good condition or much better (at least to me, everyone else can't tell). They were DEPO specials that I had taken apart to paint all the guts black, but I'll just grab another set over the winter. Maybe these can turn into my backup "track lights" or something....

Seems like a lot of work to swap headlights on and off no?

Should take them completely apart and run some vent ducting in if you're going to do that, haha.

Eh, it's a couple of bolts not a big deal. But yes I agree, if these do become my "track lights", then they will have big gaping holes drilled through them for airflow.

That is a beautiful car Jim with some serious steaks on those wheels. Have you tracked with the Vorsteiner wheels before? They hold up well? Nice job with the camera.

Thanks man. You should definitely head over to Harry's place and check it out. The pics don't do it justice really - the fenders look in person to be massively changed, and the view from straight back is ridiculous. I was the guinea pig for this. Gave him huge tires and just told him to make them fit. He knew exactly what I wanted and then executed on it perfectly. I couldn't be happier, it looks beautiful and will perform exactly the way I need it to. The guy is a perfectionist - he doesn't cut any corners and it looks inside and out like a factory job. Can't wait to drive it.

I'm on IG but I have like 4 pics up. Might have to fix that, I'll send you an invite.

Yeah those wheels can take a beating. On track they are great. I hit a pothole crater at high speed a few weeks before I dropped the car off. It was such a huge impact that I thought for sure I at least bent or cracked the rim or had some suspension damage. Aside from the tire being trashed and a deep cosmetic gouge taken out of the wheel, no structural damage. These Vorsteiners are light and tough as nails. Love them.

Harrys is our east coast AMG DR. In 8 years i own this car i had it go thru a few shops and Harry's the only shop i trust to leave my car in good hands .

wow your car looks amazing! and i'm so glad i stumbled across this thread! I have but 1 question i believe regarding the fronts. i believe i read you're running 19's as of now and you can now accommodate a size 11 wheel in the back with no spacers... what is the largest rim and tire combo you can house in the fronts without buying black series fenders/liners(which i dont mind if it completes the overall look and stance)? Thanks in advance for all the help and knowledge you provide regularly on here! also may i know your IG name so i can follow and i will be going to the same place you've highlighted to do the work and i will mention you so they know whom i'm speaking of! Thank you

Thanks. I'm running an 8.5" in front right now, and could go to a 9" easily without making any modification. A 9.5" rim would probably require some rolling of the fender. I'm on 255/35 MPSC2 in front, and actually 265/30 would fit a bit better as the overall diameter is less (at full lock the 255's will probably rub the fender liners under compression). Also just learned today that the front tires hit the new KW Clubsports, whereas they cleared fine on the OE struts. 10mm spacers on front now give me about 5mm clearance.

Thanks. The wing is an eBay special. It's a copy of the big Renntech wing for the CLS, but molded to fit the C coupe. Fits great, and it's different - saw it on a car at a local show and had to have it. I'll try to find a link, it was called RNT-something.

Here's what I bought (no longer available from this seller)

Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-14-RT-Sty...item3d2b3da728
