New Exhaust setup - Akrapovic
#59
The exhaust is phenomenally light weight. Amazing how much lighter compared to even my Eisenmann setup. As we can expect from Akra, the welds are works of art. Im excited to see what it can do (if any).
NA Power all the way! I would love to Super charge it, but then i think about why i fell in love with the car. The engine is awesome in NA form, I know FI is the way to go for big power and its tempting. But Im also concerned for long term reliability. After S/C you gotta be ready to fix things as they break, and they do. Im not willing to make that commitment right now. its a lot more then just slapping a blower on IMHO.

Dyno day tomorrow. Let's just say she sounds a whole lot angrier now. Hoping to take a good camera for the dyno runs.

The Akra has the most throatiest sound of all Exhausts for the C63. It has such an exotic sound now. No smell, yet I haven't gotten to drive the car its still being worked on. Im heading over to pick her up and dyno it in about an Hour.
Hold tight - posting new High Res videos on the rollers soon.

Some updates
The car only made 3WHP more then the eisenmann setup. But gained a whopping 40 lb ft tq over the last setup.
Car made 477 WHP and 451 lb ft tq.
Quite surprised despite removing the high flows it made such little power. Didn't expect too much gain in the HP department but 3 wheel is all I got.

Wasn't sold on the tips either 😬. Not my style. But they are growing on me.
The cars power delivery is effortless, she is actually much quieter now under load. When she opens up though. Damn.

100% agreed, the sound is very refined. Sounds very deep compared to the Eisenmann. Its actually what I was hoping to achieve (with a baby girl) the car does not drone at all, its quiet as heck. But when you open it up. oh man.

Have you looked at all into replacing the tips? They are the major deterrent of the akra exhaust to me. Still planning to get my hands on one eventually but I would be interested to know if this is a possibility.

Oh yah but not as deep as the Akra. The Akra tones the resonant frequency down on the exhaust note. Most people mistake it for being a quieter exhaust However it's a more refined (exotic) sound. I can now enjoy a Full days driving without even knowing Im in a Catless full bolt on 6.2 V8.
Smell - oh yah I get the gas fumes when I'm really on her. Aside from that all good.

To be honest the Akra tips are actually quite nice in person. Totally honest opinion is that I do prefer the classic ovals. But like my tech said to me today. There's no mistaken an Akra exhaust, the titanium in the tips are a trademark in its self.
That being said - they sell the damn tips for over 1K! Crazy.
