Wanting to upgrade from CLA45 -> C63 HELP!

Hi all,

In 2015 February of last year, I made the terrible mistake of leasing a brand new 2014 CLA45, instead of purchasing a used C63. The lease was signed for 3 years. I got sick of the car around 2015 November, and tried seeking all possible solutions as to how I could get rid of this car. I somehow managed to talk myself into keeping the car, and to wait patiently until the contract was over. 2016 May now, I'm absolutely sick of it again. I want to get rid of it so badly and start paying for a used C63. Any suggestions on how I can somehow opt out of this lease? Where can I sell my car to get the most of its value so the difference between the pay off amount won't be so high? Any suggestions are greatly apprecited as I'm desparately looking for a solution. Living with a car you're unhappy with everyday isn't fun

Why can you not go over to the dealer and browse their selection of cars. Maybe they have a used C63. Don't let them know that you're sick of your car, but instead that you are interested in upgrading. This can go for almost any dealership. They will often "buy you out" of your lease.

I also think you made the right choice as well. For near similar price, you get a slightly better interior (assuming you have an older one before the 2014 interior upgrade), 6.3 V8 power house that also sounds and performs MUCH better than the 2.0 V4. Like many have said, I just feel like the CLA isn't up to "par" with all the other AMGs. Not to mention, the CLA looks a bit odd too. Regardless, you get what I mean. Those were just broad overall examples, but I could go on and on about why I hate it.

I'm sure the dealer would try lowballing me of some sort, no? Then I'd still have to pay off whatever the dealer gives me subtracted by the car's pay off amount. Unless the dealer buys the car for full price that is, which I highly doubt they would.

I had 1.5yrs left on my BMW lease and the dealer cut me a check to pay it off to get me in my current '10 C63. I paid off the lease and kept the BMW to term. My only costs for the BMW was insurance and a new set of tires.

2016 AMG GTS ED1, 2013 C63 P31 Coupe
Dealer buyout
Private party buyout
Lease transfer

Those are your options bud. Depending on your terms, price negotiated, etc, you maybe over or under water on a buyout. If your lease terms are on the upside (low monthly, under on allotted miles, etc.), then a lease transfer may be your best bet. Try sites like Swapalease for more details. Look @ the CLAs they have on the market currently and make a judgement call based on what the competition is offering before you pay for their services.

Good luck!

Most CLA45s on swapalease go for around $650-$900 a month. My current monthly payment is $595. Most inexpensive of them all even with full blown options. Think I'd have a higher chance in finding someone interested?

Talking Been there done that

I had a 2015 CLA AMG and was also tired of it rather quickly -The losing power between shifts(also pfarting), flaky unresponsive tranny did it for me...Took a small bath on it(tried swap-a-lease-no calls) and went to a P31 c63, which I should've gotten in the first place -This car will run circles around a CLA A45 and the CLA feels and rides much cheaper...It may be close in performance but "no cigar"...Whatever you have to pay to get out of the CLA will be well worth it in the satisfaction provided by the wonderful c63--Long may the 6.2l V8 reign!!

May I ask exactly how you got rid of it? On a totally unrelated note, that is one sexy C63!

I traded in the CLA45 for a CPO c250 coupe last year and then made a deal on this c63 about 9 months later -I won't go into how much negative equity I had to absorb on the vandalized CLA but when you transfer over to the awesome c63,it makes it a little easier...This car does have the differential lock, which helps with the torque of this magnificent engine -All options except parking assist(including the wild AMG lighted door sills)Ive driven a regular c63 sedan and both cars are wicked fast -This one has a little more upper end horsepower and winds up a little quicker but it sure is nice to upgrade to car that is a more complete AMG- Also--The exhaust note always is a pleasure to experience...

I drove 3 BMW's before my C63. When I went to my local Mercedes Dealer, I told them I was just looking and was curious about the C63. I told them that it was not possible at the moment to get the C63 because I had 1.5yrs left on my BMW lease. My sales guy came out with the offer to pay off the lease to get me into the C63. Sounded fishy and I thought there was a catch, or they'll tack on the amount they paid me to get out of the lease to my final price. There was no catch and they didn't add the amount to my final price.

I went to BMW to pay off the lease and turn it in. My sales guy said I can use the car 1.5yrs more since it's paid. I just had to cover insurance and of course tires, if they're worn, which they were.

Hope I made sense. lol.

Wait. So where did the 1.5years repayment disappear? I find it hard to believe a car dealership would just pay thousands of dollars off a lease just to lock u into a c63, they need. To recoup it somehow, somewhere. They aren't in the business to lose money, they would have did some. Backend deal and u wouldn't have gotten away Scott free.

Well, I pretty much paid the asking price on the C63, and I knew others were paying less with the same MY and mileage. Maybe that's where they recouped

^^sounds dodgy but it actually is not. whilst youre definitely correct about the dealer is on the business of not losing money.

i reckon what happened was they can still make heaps of money with their C63 (prolly acquired the C63 from the previous owner for a really low price) even after they gave 8o8is the check to buy out his current lease on the bimmer.

808is, how much was the check for and im guessing you paid sticker price for your C63?

Yes, I pretty much paid asking since the C63 was way more fun than the BMW. They cut a $8K check. Here's a pic of the check stub.

^sweet! im not sure how they mark up the pricing there, but down here they can jack it up AU$20k or more. say theyll acquire an AMG for dirt cheap then add 20k on top. so even if they write you a check for 8k, their getting rid of their car and still make money.

for me, as long as i know i got what i want for the price that i want. im happy, same goes for 8o8is i reckon.

OP, just shop around and go for the best deal you can get. and dont be afraid to walk away. dealers need you more than you need them. goodluck and happy shopping.

And I got to keep and drive the BMW to term since the lease was paid off. I just had to get new set of tires before I turned it in.

Driven??

Just some thoughts -Have you driven a c63Coupe/sedan? If you haven't, a real treat awaits -When I made the switch EVERYTHING seemed superior-steering,brakes,ride,power were all much more enjoyable...Of course the car originally was 30-50% more expensive...A lot of people here have permanent smiles on their faces, that they cannot remove... Plus you don't ever want to say "Damn I could've had a V-8"...

Some dealers also really love when competing brands like BMW/Merc make the switch from one side to another. They really try hard to get that person out of a BMW and into a Merc or vise versa. There may even be a hidden incentive for the dealer if they are able to get someone to switch.

Actually, a mate is moving on from. His Jeep set and is waiting on the new CLA45 update, which should be very soon, revised power from. Engine and suspension, much like the new a45. He seems to believe it's transformed the CLA45. He obviously can't get over the performance numbers, and while they r impressive, we all know it's not just the numbers.
I told him the build quality isn't the same, but then again, he is coming from a Jeep, and he had an sti before.
I'm trying to convince him to go a c63 507, but he is set on the new cla45

Jeep to Mercedes

Tell your mate to drive both vehicles -that should do the trick...
