Curious what your results were. Noticeable gains? Dyno/butt or both?
Also, do the ROW airboxes sound louder? Normal acceleration, hard WOT, and downshifts?
Debating on ordering the boxes with aFe filters as my first performance mod.

Feels a bit faster? Placebo effect maybe
ROW boxes don't sound any louder than US Spec. Biggest gain is that low RPM response is improved and noticed a bit more crackles and pops on downshifts.
Do it, you won't regret it. Super easy to do and will improve your gains down the line.

Throttle response was different mid range with both. Plus a deeper note.

I think it is a FANTASTIC first performance mod. There is definitely a big difference in the butt dyno, without a doubt. This was my first performance mod and boy did it open the mod flood gates. Do it and don't even think twice about it.
Maybe 10rw? Which can be difficult to feel on a big V8.
I just ordered my ROWs from parts.com and got the aFe Pro Dry s filters through Amazon.
Better off the line/low end/more crackle and cleaner air was enough for me to get these.
It's a no brainer on US spec cars in my opinion.

Where did you all purchase your boxes and filters from?
Parts.com for boxes and Amazon for aFe filters were the best prices I could find, so I ordered.

I ordered mine as a package deal from ECS Tuning. Not sure exactly what I paid for them. Maybe I could have saved a few bucks buying them separately like you did, but it was just easier that way.Originally Posted by ArmoE55

I have that setup but unfortunately I removed my charcoal filters like 3-4 days before swapping out to the row boxes and aFe filters and didn't really "feel" a difference.

God, please just stop this utter nonsense. If you're really struggling with the decision and debating on whether or not to get ROW boxes, and think that a dyno reading +/-10hp or whatever is going to sway you one way or another, GTFOH. Total crap. I really think these threads are people just looking for attention. Use the search function, it's been discussed about six billion trillion times here.
You don't need a dyno reading to spend a couple hundred bucks on OE airboxes which, in the absence of a dyno anyway, is one of the cheapest mods you can do with these cars, and pretty much everyone bar none say that there is some difference that you can sense (feel, hear, whatever). The science says it removes an airflow restriction, so it has to do something. Everyone likes them. Nobody has a bad thing to say about them. There is no debate. It's the very first thing you do mod-wise on these cars.
If you're going to need a dyno reading every time you make a decision, please someone just ban me now so I don't have to see the threads pop up every other week from here to eternity.

I dyno'd my car with row boxes and OEM stock filters and made 400whp on a p31 car
Buckhead Import in Atl is who tuned my p30 and they did say that the ROW boxes DID make a difference, but that it was way up in the band and even then it was only about 5hp give or take....however, they did say that they had never, EVER seen any difference between factory filters and aftermarket (and I run aFe as well)...they actually recommended that I drop the factory pieces back in....I agree with Blk though, read past posts, search the other forums and do what your budget allows....you don't need dyno numbers for these everyday non-invasive mods
Drop in filter replacements do not gain any noticeable power.
They are just easier to clean (Dry filters) and sometimes sturdier than the OEM parts.

F***** ing love this guy...
+1
next time I dyno my car I will run k&ns and OEM and then a run with no air filters.from the but dyno I think k&ns make a little more power over OEM and it's not a joke.i literally drove the car for 15 min and went right back home to put the k&ns back in after going back to stock.
I went OEM because the dealer did work on car and I didn't want them to blame the aftermarket filters.they did like 10k worth of work and basically got a whole. we top end done

K&Ns, really? I used to run them on all my carb cars but have never had nor heard anything BUT bad things from the oil coating the MAFs and going ape****....Originally Posted by skratch77

yeah that's what everyone says and I only got them because I was at Walmart buying oil and looked at the filters and said no freaking way they have some in stock for my car and they did.it was an impulse buy lol but yes I know about the stories and will eventually buy dry filters.Originally Posted by jptaylor

I ran k&ns on my e55 for 7 years but that car is map based and has no air flow meters to clog up.

Going in for a base line dyno tomorrow on my 507. Just waiting for my ROW air boxes and JL Carbon intake to come in later this week. I as well am going to to running K&N's. I plan to dyno this as well. I've got a thread going (pulling the trigger let the mods begin) this is where I will post my results. I'm aware that dyno test air boxes and filters may be a little over the top...but non the less still nice to know what I'm getting for the money spent on my ridiculously expensive mod journey. Lol

Sorry if this is a little off topic but is there an easy way to tell if a car already has ROW air boxes?
I have the a 2012 w/ p31, put in ROW airboxes, felt no difference. Can't really hear a difference either. So if you think you're gonna drop these in and get mad dyno gains and feel it, well...probably not.
Even with that though, I'm happy. I'm getting my car track ready and given what my next couple mods will be the ROW air boxes will be a nice complement to what is coming down the line.

OK, well that's obvious but how do you tell after that assuming the charcoal filters had been removed from the original air boxes? Originally Posted by Mr. Lin

Is there a measurement???

No real way to tell visually. The way to tell is to unscrew and take a look at them. The ROW airboxes don't have the charcoal filters, don't have the plastic cross bracing for the filter, and also have a full oval open for airflow upstream from the filter. If they are not ROW, then the "oval" tube has a big chunk of plastic at the bottom cutting off airflow.Originally Posted by Carbon Dated

5 second Google search. You understand how to use the "internet", right?
