507 @ Cota June 25
1st Trip to Cota in my 507. New conti's, 35psi cold, car stock, car has cooling pkg, my 4th run @ cota, 1st time in this car.
Last car I ran here was my c5 Z06 with upgraded, brakes, racing tires, so I had to relearn to drive in this car...... I was pushing quite a bit at first..... but was able to dial in a better line.
No brake fade noticed, power did seem to fall off a bit.... but I noticed TC light on quite a bit.... so suspect car was pulling power due to wheel spinning out of turns.
No overheating issues with the 507 on hot June day, had TC on, ran in S, and had ALOT of TC assist.
Also I'm 6' tall and my helmet DID not fit in this car...... so if you plan on doing alot of track days, you might need racing seats (lower), or pick another ride. I was able to just fit if I put my seat back.
Shared a garage space with some good guys from Austin area (C63S, Audi something or other..., M4, etc...), and 2 guys with R8's from new mexico... they were tuned and in a much faster group.
My friend was there Sunday, and said they had 2 new C7 Z06's.... with aftermarket S/C's.... father son..... both caught fire and total loss one just after the other....... something with how the cooling lines were run to the S/C..... ran the cooling dry and overheat s/c..... glad no one was hurt.
Enjoy the pics.

I did not have any data acquisition at cota, so i dont know. I run in the newb class so i doubt they are fast times. I was just approved to drive solo on this track date.
If i get serious im thinking hard about e30 budget track car or 70's p car build, or the miata build.
My gut tells me to track a car you can afford to write off...... And id prefer to fund some thing more economical in this capacity.

Take a look at Spec Racer Ford. More expensive to get into than Miata or old P-car, but hold their value well and are much more economical to run and much cheaper to fix if/when something gets bent.

Zcct, yeah good call. We rented ford spec race cars at msr this past tues, and had a blast. Like big go carts, and very athletic to drive, I need to work on my fitness if I get a spec race car no power anything.
Of the 3 of us we were all w/I 1.5 secs at msr which or may not have been due to equipment. I know they are spec, but there are diffs in susp brakes wear tear. We were running some old rain tires which gave very little feedback before spin.

No limp mode? That's awesome. I ran a 2:54 at COTA on the 17th of June in my C63, but only got two laps a session before I hit 278 degrees and the dredded limp mode. I doubt my C63 will see COTA again if it isn't December.

Austintipton - Yeah no limp mode on June 25 in 94 deg heat, so I was pleased. I had the amg driving software with the temps gages on while running..... had a close eye on this. No issues. The car has a prior cota track time stored @ over 3 mins...... Nice to hear you did a 2:54. My buddy runs a gt3 and he's 2.4X...... super fast, good equipment and no fear.
Blk - My brother took the pics... with his YUGE lens.

I was out there on 6/18 and it was a little warmer that day and I hit limp mode for sure
I posted some video of non-limp laps (of course). No more summer trips to the track for me. I am however, signed up for an event for the first weekend of October. I hope the heat has broken by then.
Here is a pic (Track Day app) of my best laps out there so far.

Someone else on the forum mentioned that Eurofest event but I'm not familiar with it. I didn't notice any signs or see other car events going on that weekend other than the event I was participating in which was the BMWCCA Texas Trifecta HPDE.

Congrats on the helmet! Out of curiosity, did you use the paddle shifters? I didn't, and felt the turbo lag was killing my time. The instructors would never know if you did use the paddle shifters, further, I realized after the fact no one said you couldn't....

Awesome helmet. Think you should use it unless you intend to hit your head on things a lot. Keep it in it's bag when not in use and it'll still look great until expiry date.

I have the same helmet and use it every track day!

I plan to do the same Wobble.
I have been following your 507 build. I saw you got some flack for adding a bs wide body.... but I totally get it. IF I keep my 507 for tracking I'll do the same as you. In stock form it needs more tire/grip.

I vaguely remember some debate about badges, but did not really pay attention, since my cars have always been completely debadged since 2001, when I returned from Japan.
